I'm waiting on the IdealScope for the 3 diamonds I listed, and if I can get my #1, I believe it is great value-for-money and thus would prefer to get that one versus a diamond in another place. I am still debating about settings and have submitted a custom request to get a quote - I might attempt to see custom jewelers in my area once I nail down EXACTLY what I want. But I think I've made progress (or at least I'd like to think so) - I'm inherently picky and want something that she'll love, and while I often know what I don't like it takes me a while to nail down what it is that I DO like.
As far as the settings, yes, JA has something similar to WF...here are the two links:

http://www.whiteflash.com/engagement-rings/diamond-settings/rounded-pave-diamond-engagement-ring-563.htm
The biggest things are the placement/size/number of diamonds (I'd rather there were less but they were individually bigger), it doesn't seem to go down the ring as much, and I'm not a huge fan of the basket because of how it looks and am afraid it'll sit too high.
This is the response I received from JA, any thoughts appreciated. I don't find the basket very aesthetic but if it does provide some visual benefits, makes it more secure and easier to clean, maybe I should go with that:
"While the ring on our site appears to sit up higher than the photo you provided, if you had them next to each other, they would both sit up the same height. It is really just an illusion. Regardless of which head assembly you choose, the main factor that determines how high a diamond sits off the finger is actually the size of the diamond, not the setting in which it is mounted. While some settings are designed to sit up higher than others, such as cathedral settings, and can have a better chance of catching on clothing, most of them are set quite low and we have never heard of them having an issue like that. The ring on our site is actually a higher end version of the one you were looking at on the other site, and I'm not just saying that because I work here. We are not paid on commission, so I have nothing to gain by misdirecting you. In the end it is your choice, I just want to make sure you understand what it is you are choosing between."
As always the feedback and your time is appreciated!
