though i''m not officially a BIW yet, i already poke around the internet looking at dresses. does anyone know of a manufacturer/designer who does excellent work with lace? i would probably not look to spend more than $1500, but would consider any suggestions and might even throw away that budget for the perfect dress.

thanks ladies!

Hi,

Do you want a full lace dress? I was also looking for a lace dress, but I didn''t want to pay Monique L''huillier prices. I ended up with a Jim Hjelm, and I compared the lace side-by-side with ML and it was comparable. Paloma Blanca also makes some lace styles in a more moderate price range. There is also a Watters halter dress that looks nice.

I think Pronovias does the most beautiful lace gowns without question. They are a little out of your price range, but there are lots of places like pearl''s place where you can get dresses much cheaper.
I also think Alfred Angelo does a nice job, but of you want lace look into pronovias first.

Kelly, you aren''t located by Massachusetts, are you?

My gown was custom made by a man who also has a line of dresses. He began is wedding gown career at Priscilla of Boston and branched off on his own. He does a TON of work with lace. In addition to my gown which had a lace bodice and lace details on the skirt, he remade my mum''s 1970''s cathedral veil into a mantilla for me. His gowns range from a few hundred for simple sheaths to thousands.

Definitely try Pronovias as they have many options that may very well be in that price range!.

Try St Patrick (it is part of Pronovias). That is where I got my dress from and the lace on it is amazing!! (there are pictures of it in the dress thread).

I found my dress for $725 at RKBridal....The shops were asking $1400!!. So it is definitely possible!.

Good luck
