Hello all, I wanted to ask for your help. A friend wants to find a round hot pink sapphire for a project of hers,
weight/dimensions around 1 carat or 6 mm. At the sites I look at I see alot of ovals and other shapes, but not rounds.
Any idea of where to find a good quality round pink sapphire? She would prefer unheated, but will also consider heat treated if there is nothing in her price range (300-700).
Or, do you think this is something better for her jeweler to source for her?

Thanks for your help!

Hi Partgypsy,

I know AJSgems.com will recut a stone ot your specs. You can contact Arnold or Rung and ask them which stone they think would be best to recut. They have been very good with me and are honest on there stones.

Thanks for the suggestion. I''ve actually purchases some gems from AJS because of you and other people''s recommendations and am happy with my purchases. I think most or all? of their sapphires are heated. Are there any places with untreated pink sapphires that you (or anyone) would recommend? She is looking for 5-6 mm round.

Most sapphire dealers I know don''t even know if the stones are heated. They just assume they are. The problem with pink sapphire is they used it as a base for the diffused pad sapphire. Now the pink is in style and hard to find while the diffused are worth much less. If you want I can email you a name and tel number of someone I deal with in the US. I have purchased some nice Burma red spinel from him and and Ceylon (Shi Lanka) sapphire. I just bought a color suite of 5mm round sapphires from him that are very nice. It includes a nice Pink so I am assuming he has more. He doesn''t use a computer so you would have to call. he is in the US.

Ooops. Forgot to mention Richard Orbach of Cherrypicked.com works closely with Reginald Miller who mainly a high end sapphire and ruby cutter in NYC. I know he can get one but it won''t be cheap .
