Hi all, I used PS heavily when I was searching for an engagement ring and really appreciated the super helpful and knowledgeable community. I'm now looking for a birthday present for my wife and have settled on a teardrop sapphire necklace, based on what has caught her eye when we're browsing jewelry stores. I would like it to be "natural" and not the lab-created I've seen in most stores (and online), but I don't know if I can get a decent-sized one under $500.

As far as what I would consider decent-sized, I'm thinking something the size of a 1.0-1.5ct diamond (her ring is a 1.59 princess), but again, I have no idea what's realistic since all I've really found are lab-created stones which seem very inexpensive.

Any info as to trustworthy companies to purchase from would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Rob

I'm sorry, yeah it's blue that I'm after as that's her perference. The stones you linked would be perfect otherwise.

Hi Rob,

Take a look at some of the recommended vendors from the pinned thread at the top of this forum: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/can-we-start-a-new-thread-with-respected-cs-vendors.169561/page-5

These are vendors that PSers have had success buying from and would be the first place to start looking.

Also, pears tend to face up large for their weight - that is, a "smaller" pear may look bigger to your eye than a heavier round. Do you know what mm size you're looking for? That will be more reliable than carat weight.

Edit: my link did not copy correctly :silenced: silly me

I would ask for a price deduction and set it as openly as possible because this is a dark stone (see the video).

Pears aren't a common shape for coloured stones and has a tendency to concentrate colour at the tip, so you'll have to watch out for that. For your budget, it has to be a heated stone. Are you open to BE diffusion?

I am concerned this one will be dark in person.
