I bought a 1.06 ct 6 mm red spinel from Gene at Precision Gem. I had to, because of the colour, but was unsure about what to do with it, given its size (small, by my snobby standards). Then, as I do, I was watching Love, Actually over the holidays, and I thought YES!!! Hubby was very amenable, DK’s turnaround was pretty quick, so this just arrived, I’ll call it my Christmas/Valentine’s present. 18k satin yg, with a chain DK/Amy found to match it perfectly. It’s the gift that the hubby was smart enough to give to his wife, not the flirty chick at work.

I am in love!!!

I guess maybe part of the significance of this necklace at this stage of my life is, we are 20 years and 3 kids in. He’s had women at work throw themselves at him (I’ve witnessed!), but he’s really committed, and I never really had that before him.

Also, he proposed 3 days before Valentine’s Day.
