I bought a 1.06 ct 6 mm red spinel from Gene at Precision Gem. I had to, because of the colour, but was unsure about what to do with it, given its size (small, by my snobby standards). Then, as I do, I was watching Love, Actually over the holidays, and I thought YES!!! Hubby was very amenable, DK’s turnaround was pretty quick, so this just arrived, I’ll call it my Christmas/Valentine’s present. 18k satin yg, with a chain DK/Amy found to match it perfectly. It’s the gift that the hubby was smart enough to give to his wife, not the flirty chick at work.

Thanks for all of your lovely comments. I’m not sure why I’m so particularly enamoured with this piece, but it was a delight to have it arrive in the bleak, midwinter COVID blues.
I know a lot of couples have really struggled through COVID, but it has been weirdly beneficial for my marriage. Hubby has been working from home, and the extra time together has worked well for us. I feel very lucky.
