Hello everyone.

I have lost (hence my log in name and avatar) my sapphire/diamond engagement ring.

I don''t feel the need to ''upgrade'' as it was already lovely (2.5 carat centre stone) with diamonds around....if I had my druthers, I''d find the one I got when I was married. Unfortunately, it is positively, absolutely, lost forever.

There is one that is very similar on the M. Khordipour website Link:

Anyone out there who has dealt with this company?

Thank you for any help you can give...

I''m sorry about your ring. I haven''t dealt with M. Khordipour, but have been meaning to pop in. I''d be happy to report back if you like.

I bought an absolutely love it, to die for peridot set in platinum with diamonds from them. I will totally buy again when the right piece comes up. They were great to deal with as well. A+++++

My wedding band is from them ... bead set platinum eternity band ... worn 24 hrs a day for a year & no probs so far.

They were easy to work with & managed to make the ring I wanted in a larger size than it was originally designed for & even "beefed" the width up a bit to make it sturdier. Good prices too IMO.

Sorry about your original Sapphire. Good luck finding a replacement ring.

Thank you for the positive comments.

I was wondering, however, how much custom work they do? The ring that is very similar to my 'lost' one would still require a bit of tweaking to make me really happy. Nothing too serious, but I do want it to be as close to the original as possible...except, maybe, bigger!

Were they easy to work with?

Harriet: can you have a look when you are in the store (lucky you!!!), and see what kind of stock they keep in house? If I take a trip to NY (from Canada) I'd like to know that there is enough product for me to look at, to make the flight worthwhile.....I would really like to see the one that is similar to mine, before I start asking them to make minor changes to the shank design, etc. etc.

Thanks again

ETA: I should say, my husband has taken great pains to make my left hand feel better: a 2ct round brilliant with 2 x .50ct sidestones....I LOVE it, but it really only makes me realize how much I miss the original sapphire. Of course, I'm not offering to hand back the 3ct doorknocker, but, I'd gladly slide it over to the right hand should the sapphire be replaced!!

Rarely do I advocate any seller on PS, but I have personally dealt with Mr. Michael Khordipour.

The lowdown: He is quite esteemed in the trade and all I can attest to is that he has excellent credit within the trade. He is often sold very expensive pieceshundreds of thousand at a time, and is an excellent payer and buyer.

As a seller he is also quite good and the quality of his pieces are quite lovely. He carries some of the finer pieces and has an impressive assortment of high end clients who buy from him. He is at Booth 41 here in NYC, and his window is one of the top three that ALWAYS draws me in. Truly I have to say that if it's an antique piece, it will likely be a good quality piece. If it's a modern one, perhaps he can work to make it customized to your liking. That area i don't know much about.

Good luck! Make the trip, Khordipour is worth it. They have some lovely pieces all around and a decent stock of items. If not, there are SO MANY more stores, to choose from literally a stone's throw away. Well worth it in my book.

For future reference, I''d enjoy knowing who the other two are

Thank you Nicrez.

I''ll have to plan a trip in the new year.

Ok, Elmo....you asked for it!

Just based on windows to the street: (not what is out there in it's entirety or within the stores)

Top three so far Khordipour for their antiques and stunning sapphire and diamond Art Deco and vintage rings...some stunning Tanzanites, but mostly great rings. Yafa for their impressive vintage pieces that are unique like their brooches or coral onyx, diamond earrings... and the other is a name I ALWAYS forget, but they are next to D'Auria I think.... (Now i have to go today and find out!!!)

These of course are the guys on 47th. The REAL stunners don't often have windows on 47th but are in the private offices above and on Fifth Avenue.

Of course right on Fifth and 47th there is a store with large higher quality stones. They always have impressive displays, but to me, the stones are a bit boring, since their settings tend to be newer and less interesting. They DO have big stones, but it's a bit blah to me. I guess large diamonds are interesting, but to me the REAL artwork are the old settings that are hand crafted by skilled artisans and how they play colors against diamond and the whole art of it all...

I am so very sorry you lost your ring.

Me too. I believe it is gone for good. My own fault: we were under construction at the house, and I think I might have THROWN IT OUT. Don''t even ask how that happened,I am sick about it.

However, Santa delivered a ''finger warmer'' for me this year. It is not to replace the sapphire, but to wear until we can get to Khordipour to have one made up. Then it can move over to my RH.

(3ct total wt: centre stone = 2 ct, each side = .5)

Merry Christmas to me!

That is how I came to Pricescope, I lost my ring in construction after 7 years of marriage; I am so sorry. I love the new wedding ring!

I''m sorry your ring is gone! I know it''s little consolation, but I threw away two engagement rings at the same time. They were scooped up and chucked with some take-out trash (at work) while I was washing my hands... I didn''t notice them missing until I was in bed that night.

While I''ve had dealings with him, M. Khordipour''s jewelry is some of my favorite to meander though online. You can also enter the site through www.newyorkestatejewelry.com (as opposed to estatediamondjewelry.com). The layout is slightly different and it seems to me that the stock is somewhat different, too.

I''m sorry to divert the thread, but Nicrez - How can Khordipour sell this 8.47 ct Art Deco Fancy Yellow Diamond Ring for just $10K?. That''s an 8.47 ct center stone + 1 ct of sidestones! It''s an iffy photo, I know, but what do you think is the story with this piece?

LostSapphire, your new ring is lovely. I am so sorry to hear you threw your ring away.

Skippy, sorry to hear you lost your ring too.

Ninama sorry to hear you threw 2 rings out.

I always take my rings off when cooking or washing dishes and sometime am lax about putting them in a case or on a ring holder. I will be more aware of it now.

OK I''ll fess up:

When I lost the sapphire, I also lost my RH ring which was my wedding gift: 5 stone, 2ctw diamond in a beautiful prong setting.

I was too embarrassed to say earlier, but I''d better tell the whole truth!

So the new 3-stone will become my RH ring once the sapphire is replaced.
