Our Save the Dates went out in the mail today! I''m very excited, and for some reason a little nervous as to how people will react to them! We ended up doing magnets with our picture and a calendar on them, and then I didn''t want to send just the magnets (they are the business card sized ones), so we ended up sending them in our Christmas cards. For some reason I hadn''t wanted to do that (I think because our picture is so summery, not Christmasy at all). I know I probably shouldn''t worry, but I really hope people like them. I did hand deliver a few to some of my church group people last night, and they loved them, but they are easily impressed, whereas my family (and FI''s!) aren''t...okay, I''ll stop rambling now! I just wish I could be there to see the reaction when they get them!

Hi Sabine,

Isn''t it a good feeling to get them mailed off? I enjoyed getting compliments on ours as people started receiving them. It did make me nervous too but I think that was because it made everything just that much more official, you know? I really like the save the dates you posed a while ago. They looked great.

Just out of curiosity, when are you thinking you''ll try to choose invitations by? When do you think you''ll send them out?

Thanks Zoe! It really does feel more official now, and I think that''s the most exciting part! We''re pretty sure that we''ve decided on our invitations. They are pretty simple (and cheap!) but I just love the design. Part of me really wants to do more intricate, layered invites, but it''s just not in our budget. I think we''ll probably order them sometime after the holidays just because I want to have PLENTY of time to address them, since that is the part of this whole planning process I am dreading the most. I guess it''s pretty standard to send them out a little over a month in advance, right? If we have them done, we might shoot for a bit earlier, like early May. What''s your time frame on this? This whole invitation thing has been the most foreign to me, so I''m still not sure on a lot of it. Do you have any ideas for yours?

Here''s our invites:

Sabine,
Your invitations are really lovely, do you mind sharing the name of the company you ordered from? I especially like the response cards, so classic!

Those are adorable invites! I, too, would love to know who made them!!!

Hey Sabine -

I think that sounds like a perfect idea to mail them with the christmas card. You and I (and zoebartlett) are all getting marriend on the same day!! I have been thinking about invitation/response timelines also. I think I am going mail mine out early may (I think 6 - 8 weeks before is pretty standard) and request a response by june 12. This may be a tad early but I have heard too many horror stories of people making tons of phone calls trying to reach deadlines for head/meal counts. I want give myself plenty of time to figure out who I haven''t heard from and get the info to the caterer (especially because I am a teacher and june is already a crazy time for me!)

I would also love to find out where your invites are from. I have been eyeing one style from wedding paper divas, but I am still not one hundred percent sure they are the ones.

Thanks swimmer, future mrs. p, and little miss sunshine! The invites are from www.exclusivelyweddings.com, and they also can send out paper catalogues if you sign up for one. I hear you little miss s. on the horror stories about non-responses. It''s probably a good idea to ask for a response extra early to give time to track down all those frustrating people!

Thank you so much Sabine,
Yowzahs those are reasonably priced...and so nice looking! (a rare combination) Thank you for the information.
