Fiance wants to wear a tuxedo. Since I''m not into the thing where the bridesmaids'' dresses match the groomsmens'' ties, etc., I want him to wear a white tie and vest, and for the groomsmen to wear black.

My dress is distinctly ivory - with a champagne colored underlay.

The vests I like are white. Do you think it would look odd if he were wearing a white shirt/vest/tie, and I am dressed in ivory?

SURE! I think that would love very nice. And I don''t think my BMs dresses are going to match the groomsmen''s ties either.

I just saw a wedding on tv with the same colors and they looked great so I say go for it!

I like Bill Rancic''s look. It''s hard to tell if he is wearing white or ivory though.

I was in the same position! I just really don''t like the matchy-matchy prom stuff. I wanted white for FI too, but they warned me that it wouldn''t photograph well. I was told (at Skeffington''s and by my photog) that while he doesn''t have to have ivory tie/vest he should most definitely have an ivory shirt. Or it will be obvious and look "off" in pictures. And when they put the ivory shirt with white..... well, I started over.

So I went with the ivory shirt but got the vest and tie in platinum. GM are wearing black and platinum horizontal striped ties and black vests. My BM''s color is victorian lilac (not a pastel.... deep silvery purple) so I''m all over the place but I think the overall effect will be great.

You might want to try the platinum..... it has a certain "white" to it, if that makes sense! And doesn''t clash with your dress. GL!

I agree. I think it willl look great. I was into the same situation about 3 months ago and I ended up going with the exact colors that you mentioned. My BM dresses are a different shade of pink and I knew I would never find a color to match. Even if I did there was no way I was going to agree with that look...lol. So I think you''ve made a great choice.

I dunno... I think white and ivory might look weird. I''d be concerned about the ivory of your dress looking yellowish next to you FI''s vest and tie. Can you use the same vest but in ivory?

I've heard that if you're wearing a dress thats ivory and he's wearing a shirt thats white it can make your dress look dirty! Now, I can't say if thats true or not, I've never noticed it at friends weddings, but then again I don't think I've ever seen someone I actually know wearing anything but a white white dress, and if they did I didn't notice!

Is there any way you can check out how the two look together just to make sure it won't bug you?

I''ve heard that if you wear an ivory dress and he wears a white shirt, your dress can look dirty. I''ve also heard that ivory shirts look dirty even if your dress is ivory, because the collar and cuffs are all that show and those are the things that people think "dirty" when they see off-white. So I''m confused!

I really like the look of a certain vest that has a deeper v-neck than most vests, so it won''t show above the tuxedo collar (see how you can''t see vest on Bill Rancic). I can''t find it in ivory though. Maybe I should have fiance wear a cummberbund instead. Dunno if I could find an ivory cummberbund either though.
