I love this stone so much I had to name her

So, this ring is from the early 1900's and the pink sapphire (most likely lab created as was common back then) is set in a tower six prong setting. I will be sending this to Ivy and Rose to be reset into something more durable. They have an amazing floral setting that will be perfect for Rose.

She is my first pink stone and I think there will be more to come ;)

Pretty colour! I have an untreated hot pink & it's just beautiful out in the sunshine. You can't beat a bit of pink!

Looking forward to seeing her come alive in her new home :appl:

Thanks Alex!

Do you have a picture of your sapphire? I would love to see it!

Here you go, snapped just now inside the house & outside in the car in the sunshine. She throws off the most BEAUTIFUL lilac & sky blue colours. She is a certed 1ct unheated hot pink from Madagascar & was given to me as a surprise for first daughters birth. I would love to jazz up the setting, but husband had had daughter's name & dob engraved inside, so it's always been too sentimental. I call her the Hope Sapphire as that's my daughter's name. Would be nice if it was the Hope Diamond, eh?!

Wow that pink sapphire is fantastic! You know, the simple band may not be jazzy but it really lets the stone be the star, what a great way to remember your daughter's birth.

Pretty color StephanieLynn! Are you sticking with yellow gold? I like her in yellow gold. Cant wait to see her new home!

Hey tyty, so the setting is actually a rosey yellow gold which I'm not going to be able to replicate since it is old. It is a pretty setting but I have to be so careful wearing it.

This is the setting I'm putting her in, what do you think about the white gold?

Thank you! Apparently this is what the jeweller said to my husband when they discussed settings. Let the stone do the talking & don't fuss it.

Really looking forward to seeing what you come up with! And I agree about the gold seeing as the pink is so deep. Maybe even a rose gold

Yes that simple setting is perfect, I get it though, more stones more sparkle but that stone is just so pretty. Do you mind me asking where he got it from Alex?

My goal is to get an earth made unheated pink someday but I figured I would go the lab route to test it out and make sure I wouldn't tire of it. I'm wearing it in place of my wedding set for a change so if I still love the pink in a year then I will start looking and maybe wear Rose on my right hand.

The stone was sourced directly through the jeweller who then set it. He called in several pinks, all with certs from his gem dealer, but budget at that time would only allow for the 1ct. I do love it, but crave side baguettes or a pink gold bezel around it. Never happy, are we?!!!

I think synthetic is the perfect way to go until you are sure you love it. I am a diamond girl at heart as I usually have short painted nails, and hate colour clash - it offends my OCD tendencies  So a pink sapphire doesn't work for me with red or orange nails. Urgh!

I love this setting you are thinking of btw! It will bring it to life!

My pinky is set in platinum. For me, I like pink stones in white metal :D

Gorgeous ring, enjoy! But theres a very serious problem with it; because once you get one pink stone, other pink stones of a slightly different hue become irresistible. Before you know it, you've got 4 different rings in 4 different shades of pink. So be careful lol!

Very pretty. I love the color.

Yes, so very true. I have three pink rings now.

Very pretty color and I love the setting!

I mailed Rose off to Chicago today, it's kind of ridiculous but I mailed her on Monday so she wouldn't be sitting around through a weekend.

Doberman, can't believe there hasn't been any pink in my life until now. Like I just want color color color on my hands! Seems it could be a slippery slope!

Well I heard back from Sara at Ivy and Rose and Rose is not a sapphire at all. She is glass. GLASS. I bought her from a vendor on Etsy who sells antique jewelry but it looks like I will have to scrap this project. I haves emailed the shop I bought her from and am waiting to hear back. I did pay with a credit card thankfully.

I am so upset

 O M G! I'm SO sorry to hear that!! Oh dear, StephanieLynn! Oh, I just have no words!! That's just terrible!!! :(

How disappointing!! I hope it was an honest mistake on the part of the vendor (i.e., they didn't know it wasn't genuine) and they will give full refund. On the other hand, if you are a jewelry/gem vendor you should probably be more knowledgeable.......
