Hello everyone
Was hoping to get your opinions on this piece…
-is the the yellow center diamond okay?
-Is this considered as fancy light or fancy intense?
- opinions on the cut style (I think it’s a Carre cut?) does this cut allow for highlighting color more? and
-are the kite shaped side diamonds yellow or
-what is a reasonable price for something like this/ how much should I pay for the ring
It’s set with a square cut yellow diamond (1.20ct.; VS1), with 2 kite cut coloured diamonds (0.50ct.t.w.; VS2) as side stones
12.8 grams on platinum
thanks in advance
I do like the design of this ring. Nice find.
What does the seller say about the diamonds? Guess not much hence asking the questions?
Fancy coloured diamonds, for me, are hard to tell, and they are in a setting and I would only guess. Without a certificate to say what the actual colour, the cost will vary dramatically. The weights have been provided, but the colour the next determinant on price.
Leibish.com would be the best place to give you an indication on the price of the fancy colours.
Guesses:
Centre stone.
Fancy light or fancy.
Wonder if it is a yellow sapphire!!! Have seen some liek it.
they look like they are a carre cut.
Side stones
Kite- they look like a champagne/brown colour to me.
Platinum- 12.8g so it’s heavy.
Great find!!! Can’t wait to see it on your finger!!!
I paid 4100$
what do you think… is it a good deal given the specifications of the ring
Just out of curiosity is that US money ?
4100 Canadian
I was thinking thatThat seems very reasonable
I was thinking that
600$ would be approximately the price for platinum
600$ for the 2 kite shaped diamonds
and around 2900 for the center stone
We pay through the nose for jewlery down here in NZ (and probably Aussie too) so im only comparing with retails
I rarely buy from retail
not much to choose from and quality is usually commercial
I find that local family owned jewellers offer better options and pricing
and I usually look for materials, buy them at raw material cost and remodel them
Price at retail would be crazy high

I'm oddly comforted to see so many guys here with all sorts of ring designs! I've always felt a little like an oddball for buying shiny stuff
Here are a few of my rings:
- The first one is a 4.5 carat unheated cornflower blue sapphire. It was my first blue sapphire and I didn't know what I was doing. The colour shifts a little to violet under incandescent lighting and it irks me a little.
- My second ring was bought in 2020. It's a Fancy Greyish Yellowish Green 2.03 carat diamond. I've really enjoyed the ring and I got it at a real bargain because I think my diamond dealer was really impacted by the global pandemic. I kinda regret the grey a little, but I'm not going to complain.
- The 5 stone diamond stack rings have a bit more drama going on. The white diamond ring was bought by my grandfather in the 1920s - 1930s. It's an old Straits Malayan piece. As a child I used to bug him nonstop for the ring, and after his death there was a huge tussle for his fortune. My aunt kept my grandparents' jewellery for herself except this ring, because my grandfather explicitly told her that he wants this ring to go to me before he passed on. Anyway, the ring was very loose on my finger and I decided to pair it with another ring consisting of 5 Fancy Vivid Yellow diamonds (1.66 ct total) so it wouldn't fall off.
@Dr_Diesel yiir next project?
@Dr_Diesel wow!!! You have an amazing design mind!
That pinkie ring transformation is wow!!!! Can’t wait to see it on your finger!!!
and the Notre dame inspired ring is sooo good with that stone!!!
@Dr_Diesel you are too kind.
12 step??? Haven’t heard of that program….. me thinks it is a necessary part of me, so am not gunna quit! Lololololol
We’ll, if you MUST ask LOLOLOL!
I have a friend who has a fascination with the flying buttresses of Notre Dame. He challenged me to make a Ring inspired by that kind of architecture. I accepted the challenge
these are the sketches. The stone is in hand. Going to CAD shortly.
1.52ct Mozambique ruby & Gibeon Meteorite inlay for the texture.
Also, the pinky ring has evolved into a monster of (yet another) ring for my right middle finger. It will go into production after the ruby ring
