Does anyone know the names of some companies that make good quality men''s signet rings? I really like John Christian designs at www.ringbox.com. Anyone have experience with them or others?

Thanks everyone.

Anyone?

Not sure if they have a website, but I got my bf a signet ring made by James Avery (I think they''re based in TX) many years ago--sterling silver, tapered band--and it''s aged well, was reasonably-priced, and looks great!

Good luck!

Holy crapanola, I can''t believe I stumbled up on this thread...I am considering getting DH the same James Avery signet ring (in gold) for our 2nd wedding anniversary...blueroses, did your bf like it? Was it comfortable??? I LOOOOOOVE IT!!!! I just called them for a quote to make it in white gold (they only advertise silver and yg). Diamondlil, did you ever find a signet ring???!?!!?!?!

Here''s the picture of the JA ring I''m thinking of getting...those aren''t rubber strips or anything on the ring...it''s shadows off the cuffs...

Oh ame, that''s just terrible.

Uh, thanks for the unsolicited opinion, ame.

Interesting POV. Maybe signet rings come off that way on certain varieties of slimy, pretentious younger men, but I'm sure no one will confuse my husband for a child molester because he's wearing one.

Since that argument's not swaying me, Diamondlil, did you find one, and blueroses, how comfy is the JA one?

Hi FG. I was actually looking for a Signet ring for a friend who knows I''m a jewelry nut, so I passed the info on to him. I think whatever he chooses will look classic on him. He''s the owner if a fine restaurant in our area, married with kids -- far from the wierdo type for sure.

Does James Avery have a website? I Googled him but could not find it. As much as I love the John Christian designs, they are a bit pricey. The one pictured is very nice. When is your anniversary FG?

I gave my husband a 14k yellow gold signet ring 11 years ago and he wears it daily. Not sure if he really likes it, but he loves the fact I gave it to him. I bought it at a Helzberg Diamonds and don't think it was a specific designer, probably just a stock item, but it's held up really well. I really like the pic of the one posted!

I love 2-tone so much. Here is the one I like from John Christian.

Oops, not a signet ring, but I love this pendant. Kind of like the new "O" pendants with a monogram in the middle. I like to tweak the trend a bit.

Good to know Libster...I'll have to check out their designs! Thanks for the info Diamondlil! Our second wedding anniversary is September 28th. Just a month away!! Since it appears to take 3 weeks for engraved items to ship out (at least from James Avery)...I need to order soon!!! He does have a website (www.jamesavery.com) and he's got scrumptious stuff!! As well, I actually ordered the print catalog and as soon as I got that and saw the ring (it's pictured in yellow gold in the print catalog)....I knew he would love it. It looks so much better in the print catalog, much better than it looks even on the web!

I did check out John Christian at the website you mentioned (I love their stuff...the wedding bands with the dates on them, etc), and you're right, the rings are really expensive. I LOVE the one you posted - the two tone with that gorgeous font, but I think it was around $700 on the website. The JA ring is $275 in yellow gold, and I'm waiting for the quote in white gold, so it's significantly cheaper.

I thought it would be a really nice gift for him cuz he's dealt with a lot of crap in his life, cultural issues, and a sense of identity is really very important to him. I got him a silver ID bracelet one year and he flipped he loved it so much. It got really tarnished and mangy looking (it must react with his skin even more than most people)...I tried the baking soda reaction trick I saw on PS but it wouldn't come out...anyway, trying to stay away from silver with him but I think having a ring with his monogram on it would just thrill him to no end!!

Firegoddess, sorry for the delay replying!!

My bf really likes his--it''s a little bit different than the one you posted; it doesn''t have that kind of border thing on each side of the shank if that makes sense. It''s VERY solid and comfortable....I''d do some pics of it but he''s out of the country w/ his parents till Monday, but I''ll definitely kidnap it from him then and get some pictures!!!

Ok, I just went on the James Avery website and didn''t see the ring I gave him....it is a LOT like this one pictured below, but
instead of the cross there, it''s his initials in really simple block letters....and it''s just engraved, there''s not that black background. If you look on their site at just plain old rings/wedding bands, you''ll see lots of other options that can be engraved (not just the one dome signet you posted--which is also lovely, btw)

Thanks FG. The James Avery site is great. The ring you are thinking about in gold looks really nice. It looks very wide -- about 1/2 inch or 12+ mm according to the descirption -- but hopefully it tapers to a narrower width in the back or it could be uncomfortable. My husband can wear 8 mm comfortably (palm side), but any wider, and it might be annoying.

I love those John Christian wedding bands too, by the way. The ones with the roman numeral dates would be so handsome on a guy IMO. I know my husband would like it. Cool idea for an anniversay, but since my husband already has 4 wedding bands (yes, 4

), he''d probably roll his eyes if I gave him another. Maybe someday if we renew our vows, that would be neat -- thinking way ahead.

DL, good to know about the ring width. The description of the JA signet ring indicates that it is tapered, but it doesn't specify how much. My main concern is whether or not the protruding cuff ends are going to bother him. I personally think it's one of the really nice parts of the design...I'm just wondering how comfortable that's going to be. I was hoping this was the ring that blueroses got, but since it isn't, I'm still left wondering how comfortable this one is!!! I do like the John Christian one better...it's just so pricey!

I *suppose* one possibility is to order him the JA ring in silver, since it's only $45, and if he likes it and thinks it's comfortable, go ahead and order him the gold version. If he doesn't...I'm only out $45 instead of $275+!! Hmmmm...may have to think about that.
