My boyfriend wishes to use his father''s wedding band, but it''s yellow gold. Mine will be white gold or platinum, so we''d like his to match. Is it common to "dip" a yellow gold ring into white gold? Are there any disadvantages?

Yes you can have it Roduim plated. It cost anywhere from $10 to as high as $60 depending on where you go. It is very simple they dip and off you go. Some jewelers get backed up this time of the year but you can find some that will do it right there in front on you and off you go.

Ow and to keep it fresh you might need to have it redone every 6 months but some people wait much longer then that.

Men''s rings show wear a lot sooner than women''s. You can plate it, but since it is yellow gold to start with, it will show scratches and will need to be replated more regularly. I think it would be a high maintenance issue really. It costs me $60 to replate a ring. I have one where I''m just plating the top half where the diamonds are. It looks great, but slowly the yellow gold starts to show through again.
