Metal color for this

I like that color in rose gold, but if you want a more steely look, white metal is the best. I only like setting warm gems in yellow, but it would look nice in there too. I don’t think you can go wrong with any metal color. It’s a beautiful gem.

I'd put it in yellow or rose gold

Thank you, I thought it would only work in white metal but the designer I have sent it to is recommending yellow and the idea is growing on me, thanks for your input!

Thanks for your input, I thought it would only work in white but starting to see that differently as I start the project, may be a good thing as I have really moved toward rose and yellow gold the last few years!

Platinum or yellow gold! Honestly, even rose gold would look nice here. What a gorgeous stone.

Thank you! Jeff White did do an amazing job with it, looks much better in person!! Thanks for your input, I am pretty new to colored stones

You’re welcome! Come to think of it, I have a lavender stone in yellow, and it’s beautiful. I think the metal is basically there for the look you’re going for, cool (white metal) or warm (rose or yellow).

I’d go for rose gold or platinum in a heartbeat

Or cut the difference b/w rose and yellow and do peach

Rose gold prongs and platinum/white gold shank migh be nice if you're going for an East West solitaire (which you may not be).

These are pretty thank you, looks like these have some gray tones like mine!

I've been thinking going white metal as the stone has some gray tones

Well if you do go white metal, I’d do platinum, as it’s a bargain these days, as long as your jeweler knows how to work with it. Do not bezel with it though unless you see bezel examples made by your jeweler first.

I’d lean white metal over yellow gold for sure. Yellow and purple are complementary colors on the color wheel - which sounds good, but I’d not put them together.

In painting, Complementary colors neutralize one another (eg if you mix them together- they turn to muddy grey and “cancel” out color) and I suspect yellow gold would grey out the lovely soft purple. If it were a deeper, richer color I’d say go for gold, but this is a soft delicate purple

The top ring is a soft lavender in yellow metal. I think they look good but the OP may think otherwise. 9716CB1F-B69E-461D-AE57-512E0A154C0C.jpeg

Oh this is a great example. I wonder how close the colors are unset

OP mentioned that hers leans greyish so I was hesitant to recommend YG!

If you want more grey to stand out, I would go for white metal. That lavender stone I posted would look very icy grey in white metal. If the OP wants more grey , then that’s what I would set it in.

This is helpful, I was assuming color theory rules applied similarly here as they would with painting. OP -I guess ignore me

Op can you see what your stone looks like next to the metal colors? I have a lavender stone too, but it leans more pink. But it’s helpful to place them next to the metal if you have any existing jewelry.

like this…(same lighting)

I’ve already shipped it off so I can’t now, I’ve been completely set on white gold for it as I’d asked Jeff White specifically for something lavender with gray tones

thank you for these pics!!

Thank you for showing me these pics for reference. I don’t think I want to lose the gray to my stone so I probably need to go with my original plan for white metal

Glad I could help. I’m looking forward to your design, and photos. I adore lavender/periwinkle stones!

Thank you! I am new to colored stones and something just made me want to try a lavender gray stone, it has been sitting for over a year waiting for me to make a decision about what to do with it, hoping it turns out well!!

+1. Platinum all the way, imo. I expect it will fluctuate between bluish and gray depending upon the ambient light. I would not even use white gold but you could do the rhodium-plated; that said, I don't love super-shiny rings that compete with the stone.
