Of course, I would be sad if you didn't!!! Cheers!!!!

I wasn''t on-line yesterday because I was busy being driven to distraction and today, as I first started to write my response, the electricity for this house and the surrounding area went off. I am not sure why, but one of the roads was blocked off by yellow caution tape and a fire truck and it took around six hours before power was restored. If I were superstitious I might have thought that someone was trying to tell me to stay away from this thread ;-).

A propos of this thread, I want to mention that I, also, used to post photos of cakes. Or, one might say that I gave posters virtual cakes. One problem is that seeing them always makes me want to run out to the nearest bakery or grocery store to buy a cake...and I cannot afford to do that every time someone gets to 10,000 postings or needs a slice of lemon pie (yes, that sets me off, too).

So no pictures from me today. And I really can''t bear to praise Skippy after reading all the gooey, lovey dovey things that eveyone else has written.

Aren''t you all ashamed of yourselves for wearing your hearts on your sleeves like that for Skippy? All I have to say is: do you want a cake? (And if you say no, I shall never recover because I love you and you are one of my favorite posters and ever so nice. So don''t break my heart and do take a cake from me.)

Hugs and kisses,
Deb

Deb, you are one of the kindest most generous person! I will say yes and a giant thank you for your kindness.

Oh. No. Really? She''s got a good recipe? Darn. I''m NEVER in the mood to bake, but today unexpectedly I am.

Have you tried their apple cake? I think that''s what it''s called. It''s got cream cheese frosting. And they were giving out samples. And it just went horribly wrong. I''ve avoided their bakery since then... it was about 6 months ago.

You are an ENABLER! ENABLER!

I have to wear a wedding dress in about four months. I''ll have cake at the wedding???

If you have had apple crisp, apple pie, and apple cobbler, then you already have a pretty fair idea of what apple cake tastes like, Skippy :-). There are many recipes for it, of course, but the best ones (in my opinion) feature slices or chunks of apples
as they would appear in any of the aforementioned desserts. The only difference in the cake would be the nature of the the batter once it had baked; instead of being a pie or crisp, it would be a cake. Some cake recipes even turn out to be more like cobblers. I have some great apple dessert recipes, but they are in Virginia and I am in Connecticut :-(.

YAY SKIPPY!!!!!! That''s 10,000 times that you''ve made people smile. I don''t think I''ve read a single post by you that didn''t make me just want to HUG you. You''re a gem on this board, and we''re lucky to have you. And I feel lucky to have shared in the WWT with you. Thank you for all the times (there have been a LOT) that you''ve made my day a little happier.

And now the cake and those drinks. It''s late but you ladies have me craving for a martini!

Woo Hoo Skippy! Way to go! You are such a sweet lady and give such nice and kind advice and help you totally deserve this honor.
All the very best!

Deb''s right about the apple cake. WholeFoods apple cake is similar to their carrot cake, but a little tarter. I really enjoy it. But each serving has like 900 calories or something crazy like that. So... can''t indulge. Might indulge for my birthday. Or maybe for our dating anniversary (9 years!) in a next month.

Gypsy, I'm not sure what part of what I said about apple cake is right, but I cannot help but notice that as of today (May 10, 2008) you have 9,283 postings. I would love you to be able to accept a cake when you get to 10,000 postings (not say, "I can't. I am dieting.") Therefore, can you aim to hit 10,000 on your dating anniversary; your birthday; or some other occasion on which you allow yourself to eat cake?

I'm just planning ahead.

Deb ;-)

Well, when you go back to VA I would love the apple cake recipe especially if you have one that is close to cobbler, that sounds so yummy! Happy Mother's day tomorrow Deb!!!

Btrflygrl23, I am glad you are part of PS; you are so sweet. I read your responses in your thread and we all can just tell you are a darling and kind person. Thanks, I try to give my take on things from past experiences and I think she is jealous and you do not deserve that. Hugs and thank you for your kind words!!!

Deb and Gypsy, thank you for the info on the apple cake, I am intrigued; they don''t sell the them here. I just read your post on the 900 calorie info. They might be from the frosting? Frosting tends to have lots of butter. I just made cupcakes for Mother''s day and I calculated the cake itself and it is only 200 calories but the frosting makes it a total of 350 calories so I made some for me w/out frosting.hehe Happy Mothers day Deb!
