For years, my mom has playfully joked about wanting a 10-carat diamond. Every time we’d go out for Chinese food, she’d crack open a fortune cookie and laugh, predicting that a 10-carat stone was in her future. Since I couldn’t buy her a 10-carat, I took matters into my own hands a few years ago and reset her emerald-cut ring to maximize its finger coverage, thinking that might satisfy her. But after a year or so, she was back at it, mentioning the 10-carat diamond again!
A few months ago, I came across an uncerted stone that seemed like it had serious potential. When I finally saw it in person, I just knew—I’d found a unicorn. I am beyond excited that I was able to secure this dream stone for my mom.
At my mom's age, every day feels like a gift. Also, my parents are not traveling due to my BIL's health, so I'm grateful that I could bring some extra sparkle into her life.
p.s. I have lovingly dubbed her the Queen Bee
When she put the ring on she said, "I've waited fifty years for this."
