Hi there!

Just got engaged last weekend (after much obsessive PS reading/viewing/silently commiserating w/fellow LIWs the past few months!) and looooove my ring -- which is good considering that we picked it out together! It''s white gold, trellis setting, princess cut center stone (just under 1 ct) with 6 princess invisible set side stones (3 either side of center) -- so lovely! :)

I''m more than happy with a white gold e-ring, but I''ve always wanted platinum for my wedding band ... but someone recently told me that platinum band rubbing against the white gold would destroy my e-ring. Is this true?! Anyone out there have white gold rings w/platinum bands? And if so, any problems??

Thanks!!

Platinum will in fact eat away at the gold. I wouldn''t recomend mixing the metals.

Yes, not a good idea. Stick with a WG wedding band. Congratulations on your engagement!! I couldn't see the pic??

Thanks for your advice -- def. glad I found out ahead of time because I'd be devastated if I ruined this ring! Though I like the idea of platinum for a wedding band, I honestly think white gold is just as pretty so I'm not complaining!

And thanks for the engagement congrats! I'm still in the "wow, I can't believe we're engaged!!" phase -- this week has been SO fun! :)

I think the photo worked this time!

It''s gorgeous!!! Glad you asked first. It would be a shame to damage that lovely ring.

I have 18kt e ring and 14 kt wed band. It was an error by the jeweler, they were both supposed to be 18. I have been wearing them for 3 yrs, and you can''t tell the diff. I know it isn''t platinum, but that is the closest I can say I have experienced. :)

BTW CONGRATULATIONS!!! and, of course, I absolutely love your ring!! What are the specs? I browsed fast so I could respond so maybe I missed it. I will go back and ckeck again!

GORGEOUS! one of my all time fave e ring styles!

just went back and re read it. that looks hugeeeeeeeeeeee for a 1 carat center!! what is your ring size/??

Congratulations on your engagement! Your ring is gorgeous and I especially love the setting. Since you''ve silently been comiserating with the LIWs over the past few months, would you care to jump over to the LIW thread and post your story for us?

Thanks everyone!! This was really the only ring that we even truly considered --we both just loved it! We knew we wanted a princess cut and the trellis setting (and couldn''t afford the Tiffany Lucida!), and then once we saw this one, that was it -- I was hooked! (Though I must admit that after checking out all the rings here, I''m really finding halos to be quite gorgeous! I''m not sure they''re "me" but they are just incredibly beautiful!)

Yep, the center stone is .9 -- it really does look bigger though! The sides are total of .36 ct. And the center is I and either SI1 or SI2 (the appraisal just says SI?).

I should head over to LIW and post my story -- I definitely got a lot of mental & emotional support from reading the other stories there when I was having my anxiety attacks during my wait!

You guys rock! (pun intended) ;)

Congratulations on your engagement! Your ring is just stunning!!!

Ring size is 5.5. I''m a pretty small person, and I feel like this size is just perfect for me! There was a similar ring posted a while back (https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/woohoo.28793/=), and someone described it as "square and symmetrical and minimalist yet blingy " -- exactly!

Beautiful ering - that stone looks enormous - I can''t believe it''s 0.9 ct! Love the ring and the beautiful setting!

Heeh heee, just noticed your image, Sophie -- what elegant taste you have! :)

Ellaila - You're from Boston right? Is that Newton City Hall in the backround of that shot?

Scintillating...

Your ring is gorgeous. I love it.

Beautiful ring. Congrats on the engagement! I personally like the WG better (even though my e-ring is platinum, my w-band is WG) because platinum gets scratched quickly and looks dull in color. All you have to worry about with the WG is getting the rhodium replated occasionally. Although I have yet to replate any of my WG rings and they all look great!

Congratulations on your engagement. That stone does look huge on your finger. That is always a good thing, rt?

The place in your avatar is quite pretty -- is that where you are getting married?

Hi there!

Thanks for the WG/plat info and compliments!

To update, we went with the matching diamond band in white gold

I love it and can''t wait to wear it -- just about 93 days until I can!! (Not that I''m counting

Diamondlove, yep, that''s where we''re getting hitched!! Castle Hill Inn in Newport, RI.

And Scintillating, no, that is not Newton City Hall, it''s actually somewhere in Newport, but I do think we must be neighbors if you know Newton City Hall! :)

Thanks :)

Yes, it''s funny when we''re more knowledgeable about things than the "experts" are! Even at the store where we got our rings, one person said "Sure, you can mix them!" and another said "Absolutely not!"

I''d definitely rather err on the side of caution with this one!

Congratulations on your engagement...That band will be on your finger before you know it.Beautiful ring...

Hi!

I actually have a 19K white gold wedding band and a platinum tiffany setting e-ring. I wear them everyday side by side and nothing has worn on either ring in the 2+ years I''ve had them. I''ve never had to replate the white gold ring at all yet and the platinum is still polished. So far I don''t see anything wrong about wearing these two materials side by side. I must note, however, that the rings while side-by-side don''t do much rubbing as I have small grooves on the band within which the e-ring sits perfectly.
