Hi PS'ers! :wavey:
I said that I would keep everyone posted on our ring, so here are new pics that we received today. Well, actually, let me correct that...these are pics that I received today by way of my sweet, sweet SO.
Ever since the design was finalized, I’ve been totally out of the loop as it relates to the progression/completion of our ring. Mark has been corresponding directly & ONLY with my SO. Unfortunately, SO has stated that these will be the last pics that I will get to see before I actually receive the ring. :(sad
From the looks of it, it's almost done. :appl: I am getting excited! Now, I’m just hoping that I’ll actually receive it sooner than later! :naughty:

MWM is the MAN!

By the way, this will be a modified version of the Extreme Petite Torchiere.
*Instead of getting the 4 melee diamonds in the "lower windows", we decided to get 6 diamonds in the "upper windows".
*The basket was designed with more of an elongated shape like that of the Extreme Petite Torchiere.
*Additionally, the 6 melee diamonds in the basket are 2 pointers rather than the normal 1 pointers.

One thing I've learned during this custom design process is that it never hurts to ask. The possibilities seem limitless! AND I just have to add that Mark Morrell has been an absolute JOY to work with!

My OEC is in a temp ring for now. Im eyeing to have have one of Mark's pieces once I have more fund. Cant wait to see your ring.
Am I seeing "scorpio love" engrave? :)

Fabulous addition to have the diamonds in the 6 upper petal/windows! I love that detail! AND --- your screen name w ?topaz? in the band - brilliant!!

Looks wonderful - I hope you get to see it "for real", very soon!!

It's going to be stunning when it's completed. I've always loved and admired MM's work. Congrats! Just to know that is coming could keep me revved indefinitely!

MM is my all time favorite solitaire designer, stunning!!!!

I was just going to ask what are the yellow stones in Scorpio, but then I remembered the birthstone for the month is yellow topaz. Are they?

I love Mark Morell.

That is looking beautiful! I vastly prefer the diamonds where you put them! Can't wait to see the finished ring!

Yes, the engraving is "Scorpio Love". Both of the "O's" in Scorpio are yellow diamonds to represent the yellow citrine birth stones. SO & I are both Scorpios. :-)

Thanks Enerchi. I liked the look of the original Extreme Petite with the diamonds in the lower basket, but was a bit concerned about a future wedder rubbing the sides and all of that mumble-jumble. I figured that I need not complicate my life even more. lol.

The surprise stones inside of the shank are actually yellow diamonds. I'd inquired about setting yellow citrine (Nov birthstone), but Mark explained that citrine is a quartz material and wasn't strong enough to withstand the force required to flush set a stone inside a ring shank. Sooooo hey, who could resist more DIAMONDS!?!?! :lickout:

AprilBaby, I've admired his work for quite some time myself. I like the classic look of some of his lines w/ the "surprise" factor.

Yes, the surprise stones inside of the shank are yellow diamonds. Yellow citrine is actually the November birthstone. ;))

Thanks DS. I can't wait to see it.
BTW, I love, love, love your new AVR. It is absolutely gorgeous, and has such a nice presence on your hand. I'm SO glad that you went with the 2.29 (ummm....LARGER) one.
AND although you're using the Vatche as a temp setting, I'd just like to cast my vote to use it as a perm setting. That was the 2nd runner up for me when I was trying to decide on a setting.

QUESTION FOR YOU: with this setting, will your wedding band be able to sit flush to the stone straight, or would you have to get a flowing band (with the notch to accommodate for the diamond). Thanks and congrats again!!! :D :D

Hi colorful. I will not be getting a curved band. I'm not a fan of them and really want the option to wear the wedding band alone. I believe that as long as I get a lower set wedding band, it will sit nicely with my e-ring. The donut on my e-ring isn't very large at all, but I'm sure there will be a small gap between the 2 rings. I, personally, like the separated look though!
I'll be back with pictures at some point next year for sure once the wedding band has been selected.

Absolutely stunning! Just curious, what's the difference between the petite torchiere and the regular torchiere?

both are 2mm at the crown/head but the widest part of the band is 3mm in the original and petite is 2.5mm at its widest. I have decided on the flame setting, as I like the look of a 3mm band all the way around.

How did you decide on the Extreme vs the Classic? I am having a hard time deciding. Thanks

I really do think it is a matter of personal preference. I just finalized my design with Mark had the same question. I looked and images of both the classic and "extreme" side by side and found that for my size stone (10.25mm) I prefer the look of slightly more curved prongs. I think the classic is very much still a beauty for slightly smaller stones, IMO (<2.5ct)

Is there one you are leaning towards?

Hi Colorful,
Thanks for the post. I am not sure which one I want. I have a 2 carat rb. I am having a hard time deciding with my pictures. Could you post the views you were comparing? Also, Did you end up with the Extreme on the flame body?

Scorpio, this is the coolest version of that ring I have ever seen! I absolutely love all of your modifications, and I think MM should consider adding that to his site! [SMILING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]

I'm usually not a fan of gemstones inside of the band, but I LOVE that you put your screen name with gemstones inside the band -- SO COOL!!

Can't wait to see the finished product!

I dont know how active she is here on PS. Her ring has inspired me a great deal and I've followed her progress. She's since been engaged, the final ring and her engagement story can be found here: https://www.pricescope.com/community/#p3533894

Hey regatta,
Yes I did select the custom extreme flame. I'll message you a photo of the 3D rendering. I dont want to highjack scorpiolove's thread.

Here are some images of the classic torchiere:

and the "extreme" version (really a misnomer that his clients have come up with; as you can see the arms leading to the prongs are just a bit more curvy than straight...nothing to extreme about it)

His work just makes me melt into a puddle! Something about how liquid the plat looks is just too much for me to handle :cheeky: !

Its going to be gorgeous!!!
