Modified something so you would wear it more?

I just modified two of my necklaces so that I would actually wear them more often! I have banned myself from buying NEW jewellery, but there's no law against upgrades, right? :naughty:

First up, is the Senhoa necklace that I bought myself when I got out of debt. Yay! I no longer had the chains of debt around my neck, and so I bought... Chains that went around my neck. Haha. But the necklace was so heavy and edgy, that I had only worn it out and about twice! In three years! Sad!

Today I had the necklace divided and made into two. I think I will enjoy it much more now! I can wear the plain one often, and the edgy one when I feel like it and the event calls for it. And they're light enough that they're not annoying to wear! Yay!

I think I will make the spiky one a little longer. [Sorry the photos are sideways.]

Total cost for upgrades: $15

Next up, we have a necklace from my dear husband! He knows I love jewellery, and about two years ago he bought me a necklace. This was very exciting because he has only bought me jewellery two other times: earrings, and an engagement ring! But the necklace was sooo not the length/style that I knew how to wear. I found very few tops that I felt it went with. I wore it often-ish, considering that I felt it didn't go with anything! But now that I've lengthened it, I LOVE IT, and I wear it all the time! It goes with everything!

Considering how sentimental I am about jewellery, this one is a pretty big win. I love wearing this gift from DH :)

Total cost: $5 I think? Maybe less.

And after:

I love it! Show me your modifications? I also got my wedding set re-sized. Now that it fits me, I wear it much more often! Hurrah!

Love all your modifications! Beautiful. Very clever and yay on making your pieces more wearable so you can enjoy and love them.

No pics of my modifications but usually I modify to make necklaces shorter (15 inches or so) because I prefer choker length for me. Though I do love my long DBTY necklace. I put jump rings on some of my necklaces enabling me to wear them at a few different lengths depending on the neckline of what I am wearing that day. I find that to be a useful modification for my necklaces giving me more versatility than just having it at one available length.

Thanks for sharing your lovely necklaces with us. :appl:
