Soooo, @HotPozzum and I discovered are are both in the UAE - how cool is that? Another PS member for me to bling with

We caught up for coffee and a sharing of bling and pearls - it was such fun and the nearly 2 hours went by really fast.

My lovely adult daughter came too and was particularly taken with a beautiful Cooper Pedy opal ring @HotPozzum was wearing. Us all being Aussies, I felt somewhat ashamed that I haven't added an Australian opal to our collection (I do have a large black Lightening Ridge opal - but that's back in Australia on consignment sale - that's another story). And I do still have the Ethiopian Welo Opal from Barry at AC Stones which I'm still trying to figure out how to set...

So, keeping it all in the Aussie family, I reached out to MsOpalWorld on Etsy - our @jordyonbass - and between us we selected this gorgeous little opal which we will set in a simple gold bezel ring for my daughter inspired by the ring @HotPozzum was wearing. Her stone is more organic triangular whereas this one is more chunky pear. The colour play of this stone is so much like the Monet Waterlilies paintings that it just couldn't be called anything else.

Jordan was a pleasure to deal with. Very patient despite the fact that he was out on a fishing trip with his dad. He even gave me a "mates rates" discount for which I was very grateful.

Here is the Etsy listing and a couple of photos from that same listing. I will get the stone in a week or so and will post an update at that time...

Goodness that’s a beautiful opal - can’t wait to see it set!

Oh my. I love the play of colours on that!

Gorgeous!

ooo gorgeous! I don't have any opals sadly. (don't ask, I don't know why, they're scary to buy for me) but would love to get the url to Jordy's etsy store. (link above is not working!)

Oooo that’s amazing. I love opals- they look like wee little planets to me. A little drop of other worldly magic!

Wow that does look like a Monet!! Can't wait to see the finished piece.

Shoutout to my cousins in Dubai. :)

oh and the @HotPozzum opal is from Coober Pedy (not Cooper Pedy). My bad. I should know my own country, right?

How big is that beauty? Absolutely stunning!

Oh it's gorgeous! I LOVE opals and I can't wait to see it finished!

Wow. The color play on that is gorgeous! Waterlily would be a perfect name for it. I can't wait to see this set.

What a beauty! Mesmerizing colour play.
You will probably love it when you see it in real life.

@ringo865 - are you in Dubai also? If so then we must organise a GTG - @HotPozzum and I did chat about doing that but haven't made any definitive plans.
No, I live in Minnesota. But my first cousin and his family live there. I've never been, because they come to the US several times a year. But SOMEDAY .., it's on my bucket list!!

The opal is gorgeous! It has so many colors.

:appl:Nothing beats a beautiful Aussie opal in my books. Always breathtaking and always unique. What’s not to love.
Your daughter will love her new “beauty”. Photos please

Beautiful stone. Opals are so incredibly gorgeous and I love the colors shown in your beauty.

Love. :kiss2:

Haha I’ve made the same mistake previously myself! :oops2:

Can’t wait to see how the new Monet opal turns out.

Here is the ring @BlingObsession is referring to, it’s extremely vivid in sunlight - bright flashes of lime green & royal blue. We bought it in Coober Pedy whilst travelling through the “red centre” from Darwin to Adelaide. Wonderful memories!

Gorgeous. Ethereal. Dreamy.

So beautiful! I love opals. I second @leukolenos, they are like tiny planets with so much personality!

Ditto Missy! So dreamy!!!

At the jewellers for setting - expecting it back on Thursday midday .... bezel set, yellow gold, just like @HotPozzum sample ring...

Will post photos...

And her are some hasty IPhone snaps. The ring is really lovely - very simple. My daughter adores it. Should have given the gold a bit of a polish before I took snaps - it doesn't look all scratched up and gunky like that in real life...

A few more and a note on dealing with Jordan - he is really sweet and very patient and extremely helpful. His videos and IPhone shots are an excellent way to help "translate" between his Etsy photos and the stone in real life. He was very willing to send me as many videos and photos as I need and, in fact, I've just bought another two stones off him because I was so happy with the first purchase...

Last photo is on my daughter's lovely hand. She wanted it for her middle finger.

Ermagherd it's gorgeous!!!!:appl::love::clap::lickout:
(And I hope it's not creepy in a "silence of the lambs way" but I want your daughter's young skin ;(:errrr::naughty:)

Hahhaah Pinto - you and me both. I'm going to get her to model all my jewels going forward. What a shame that we don't appreciate that fine smooth skin when we have it, huh?

The stone is stunning in real life - really lively, very bright and lots of different colours. Very hard to photograph. She loves it so much she had a bad dream that someone chipped it and she woke up crying - hilarious - she's 25 for goodness sake.

I cannot wait to see yours finished - it wont be long now, right?:Up_to_something:

@BlingObsession gorgeous! It is a stunning stone and I see the different colors. Opals are challenging to photograph and you took wonderful photos. Cannot wait to see your next opal pieces and what you do with them. Just Beautiful.
