i bought this one about 1.5 years ago. i''m sure your''s is more advance model. mine uses a 9 volt battery.i have a 8 yrs old tester (my first one) that came with an AC adapter. like strm said...you need a different tester to distinguish synthetic Moissanite from diamond.
