AustenNut said:I just got a concave faceted amethyst and am looking at some etsy vendors to set it for me. I've narrowed it down to three, but two of them show their work with cabochons/cabochon style stones rather than faceted gems. The third does work with faceted stones. If the ones who don't show faceted stones are open to doing it (I might prefer the styles), then do you think it's okay to go with them, or is it too risky? The styles I'm looking at are:

I don't know if this is the right spot for this, but y'all are definitely the etsy experts!

I like the third one the best but you seem to like the other two. Have you seen onegarnetgirls site? She works with
faceted stones and does bezel work sort of like the second vendor you listed.

DandiAndi said:Well my two .50ct diamond studs have arrived home from their trip to DanielM in the US, and they are lookin' might fine!!
I love these diamonds... they aren't ACAs or anything fancy, I just spotted them a few years ago and bought them as I was so drawn to their wonderful character. From the side they definitely display some colour (I think they are Js) but when worn on the ear they are seriously WHITE! They are eyeclean, very prettily cut and throw off HEAPS of fire. However, I never liked the 4 prong setting they were in, the claws were blobby and took away from the lovely stones. So, inspire by our gorgeous Yssie I had them set into 8 prongs, and am thrilled! The workmanship is exquisite, the prongs are so tiny!

Hey lizzyann,
I tend to like the $42 ones best...they are just the right length for me to wear it doubled, or in a knot (I am just under 165cm tall, if that helps). The more expensive ones have more strands, which would = hotter..I prefer them a bit lighter so I can layer with cardigans etc..
I hope that helps, let me know if I can advise further

I got them from JohnTraeger on Etsy, they're gorgeous - I definitely recommend him for anyone looking for handmade wood jewellery boxes

The blue topaz was mine, it was a cheapie just sitting around for years but it was pretty and I wanted to get it set. The ring is argentum silver with little yellow gold clusters on the side. Jill was absolutely wonderful to work with and I'm really pleased with the ring.

I took a look at her page and there's only one umbrella up at the moment, but if she puts up a floral like your aunt's I will be seriously considering it for my grandmother

Yssie-
I haven't seen another umbrella up in a while, but I bet Marina would make one for you in any color you wanted. She is extremely pleasant to deal with. We got into a bit of letter writing (in English) although we did not have a first language in common. If you really like the umbrella, convo her!!!
Hugs,
