More Fun Things on Etsy

Gah! Double post.

I just got a concave faceted amethyst and am looking at some etsy vendors to set it for me. I've narrowed it down to three, but two of them show their work with cabochons/cabochon style stones rather than faceted gems. The third does work with faceted stones. If the ones who don't show faceted stones are open to doing it (I might prefer the styles), then do you think it's okay to go with them, or is it too risky? The styles I'm looking at are:

http://www.etsy.com/listing/26125469/rose-quartz-harmony-pendant-sterling-and

http://www.etsy.com/listing/48156602/yellow-beryl-bezel-ring (but in a pendant)

http://www.etsy.com/listing/54933170/pretty-pictoral-prehnite-artisan-pendant

I don't know if this is the right spot for this, but y'all are definitely the etsy experts!

I like the third one the best but you seem to like the other two. Have you seen onegarnetgirls site? She works with
faceted stones and does bezel work sort of like the second vendor you listed.

Thanks, TyTy. I think OneGarnetGirl is no longer accepting clients' stones, or she would have been a contender for this project. I'm still deciding which of the settings I prefer, though I'm beginning to lean toward Daniel M.

AJ, what size necklushes do you get? Is it the $42, $62, or $74 one? I am thinking of getting one but I am having a hard time deciding which sized one to get. I think I will mostly where it doubled. Any advice?

Hey lizzyann,
I tend to like the $42 ones best...they are just the right length for me to wear it doubled, or in a knot (I am just under 165cm tall, if that helps). The more expensive ones have more strands, which would = hotter..I prefer them a bit lighter so I can layer with cardigans etc..

I hope that helps, let me know if I can advise further :wavey:

Well my two .50ct diamond studs have arrived home from their trip to DanielM in the US, and they are lookin' might fine!!

I love these diamonds... they aren't ACAs or anything fancy, I just spotted them a few years ago and bought them as I was so drawn to their wonderful character. From the side they definitely display some colour (I think they are Js) but when worn on the ear they are seriously WHITE! They are eyeclean, very prettily cut and throw off HEAPS of fire. However, I never liked the 4 prong setting they were in, the claws were blobby and took away from the lovely stones. So, inspire by our gorgeous Yssie I had them set into 8 prongs, and am thrilled! The workmanship is exquisite, the prongs are so tiny!

Dandi your resets look fabulous!! And they're WHITE in your ears! :sun:

I had to laugh at your file comment - it's never occured to me to inspect the skin hydration of one's earlobes, but yours look perfectly lovely my dear

I just got a new ring from Janish Jewels and wanted to add it to the thead. I only discovered Etsy thanks to you guys so here's my first Etsy project. The blue topaz was mine, it was a cheapie just sitting around for years but it was pretty and I wanted to get it set. The ring is argentum silver with little yellow gold clusters on the side. Jill was absolutely wonderful to work with and I'm really pleased with the ring.

Reposting from BWW - mothers' gifts for our wedding in September! The dark walnut is for my mum, the light figured maple for FI's.

I got them from JohnTraeger on Etsy, they're gorgeous - I definitely recommend him for anyone looking for handmade wood jewellery boxes ::)

I love these!!! And OT, but his name is the same as the character in Serendipity, my favorite movie

Any new ideas from Etsy? I'm thinking Christmas already.

I love that design!

I've not bought from this seller and it's not jewelry but I couldn't help but put a mention in here. The name of the shop is aprilfoss. She has fabric owls. I dig fabric and I LOVE owls. She does garlands of little ones and I might get one to put in London's room, and possibly fall and winter ones to hang in the house. I'm such a sucker for owls!

This girl is fantastically talented. The link is to her trademark ring, but if you browse her website, you'll see what I mean. It is very organic, almost Japanese-style. I definitely plan to buy something from her eventually, although I have too many stones to wear now.

hi crasru,
I agree her style is unique - but the prices :!: $270 for a sterling and topaz ring - eekk..
If you like her stuff enough to go ahead and purchase, I do hope that you might try to haggle just a little on price ;))

Quite a long time ago, I bought a handpainted silk scarf and a handpainted silk umbrella from an artist in Estonia who sells her work on Etsy. I absolutely loved the pale yellow umbrella and gave it to my aunt for her 85th birthday. It is perfectly functional, but also exquisitely beautiful. I thought I would share some photos of it. My aunt's birthday was in May!!!

Here is a link to the artict's Etsy site:

AGBF I adore that!

I took a look at her page and there's only one umbrella up at the moment, but if she puts up a floral like your aunt's I will be seriously considering it for my grandmother :))

Yssie-

I haven't seen another umbrella up in a while, but I bet Marina would make one for you in any color you wanted. She is extremely pleasant to deal with. We got into a bit of letter writing (in English) although we did not have a first language in common. If you really like the umbrella, convo her!!!

Hugs,
Deb

Hmm.

Think I will :)) I usually like to mull things over for a good long time, but it can't hurt to ask - and I do really like it ::)
