I love the skirt part of this dress, but not the top. I also think it''s priced a little high. I really like the "fluidity" of the skirt. Has anyone seen anything similar? I''ve searched earthy, eco-chic, silk-hemp wedding dresses, but keep hitting the same sites.

I promise to start looking in local shops this weekend, but for now the internet is my only source of shopping . . .

Hemp? No, really?

Looks like linen, which means wrinkles, wrinkles, wrinkles. Not wedding dress appropriate IMO.

Very pretty, but I agree with the WRINKLE comment. You can even see in the photos the dresses are very wrinkly. Maybe you could find a similar fabric that flows like the hemp. I will search later on, but I have never seen a fabric like that for a wedding dress. That would be fab for an outdoor wedding!

Honestly? The cut looks pretty amateur-ish and the drape is a bit...meh? I don''t think it looks that nice. I think you can do better!

Anyway, isn''t it MORE eco-friendly to buy a once-worn gown than a new hemp one? Sorry, I haven''t been following your threads so I don''t know if this is also an option for you.

It''s not ecofriendly but I saw this dress and thought of you Vintage: http://jpeterman.com/product.asp?cat=110201&sku=WDR%202020
my friend swears their clothes are the best.

I would rather by carbon credits to offset the travel of my wedding personally. If it weren''t tacky I would ask for unwrapped gifts to save on waste.

I love everyone''s honesty on here. Very constructive. Thanks.

To clarify a few things. The dress needn''t be eco-friendly. That''s more or less a search term I started using after I came across some of these sites. I agree. The eco-friendly label is pure marketing.

Wrinkles - great point! Hadn''t even thought of it. Probably wouldn''t travel well.

The ceremony will be outdoors, somewhere parklike or mountain-y, undecided at this point, probably in May. It will most likely be just him and I (and an officiant and photographer) so really I can wear whatever I want, but I seem to be obsessing about the dress now, thinking I need to have one custom made, etc. But, this morning, I started thinking earthy again, hence the eco-friendly sites.

Lovely dress!! Yay, another site to search.

I was looking at this one too, but I''m sure you''ll think it''s too conservative. See, I''m all over the board here!

I never meant that your taste was too conservative, I am wearing a V neck with sleeves for my dress.
Its just that the people I know who get married in national parks are the kind of hippie chicks who want to feel the mountain air on their skin, definitely not conservative. I think it just might be a Colorado thing though.

Olivia Luca (olivialuca.com, I think) offers eco-friendly fabric options and custom options. No real experience, but I love the look of the designs.

Thanks so much for posting all of these dresses for me. They are all lovely and several would be perfect for me, if I had a well, ehr, more perfect body. I too LOVE the daisy lace gown. Love it, love it, love it. However, there is just no way I could wear a dress like that. I guess I need something with a lot more back, hopefully a bit o'' sleeves.

Because there are sooooo many sleeveless and strapless dresses, I wonder if I could just wear a small jacket of some sort with it. I''ve seen some that are specifically sold this way, which makes the idea a lot more acceptable to me. I''ll mention it at the shop I go to this weekend.

When I was thinking of getting a dress custom-made, I had a vision of a specific earthy flowy type dress with some roping (a la project runway, from a few seasons ago - does anyone remember what I mean) for the straps and around the bodice for shaping with flowing loose drapey inconsistent (several pieces of fabric) sleeves. I should draw it and post it. It would probably be fairly easy for someone to make. I wish I knew how to sew. I think I might just watch too much project runway . . . .

Oh, no need to explain. I knew what you meant. I think I''m more of a hippie chick wannabe, hence the inconsistencies . . . .

Do you have a picture of your dress posted on here?
