Hi Jonathan ~
28.gif

Oh my ... first concert?

I was very young ... family friends lived in Las Vegas and took us to see ...

The Osmonds ... staring "Donny & Marie" I think I was all of 8 years old! Very Early 70's. Also saw Wayne Newton, and gave me a personalized B&W of him with one of his arabian horse's.

I then got to tag along with my big sis and see Earth, Wind & Fire and the Commadores. Mid-late 70's???, I think I was 12. It was really cool ... 6th row! San Diego Colisseum!
10.gif

Let see, after I graduated in "84 ... I tried to see as many concerts that I could. Well Jonathan, looks like you have a few years on me!
2.gif

Journey, Loverboy, Rick Springfield, Motely Crue, Sammy Hagar, Whitesnake, Def Leopard, Night Ranger, B52-s, Metalica( That was one rough crowd!), Van Halan/DLR, Pat Benatar, Joan Jet, Saga, Styx, Police, Petra, Mike & The Mechanics, Air Supply, Scorpions, ZZTop, Ratt, Poison, Faith Hill, U2, INXS, Bon Jovi, & Van Halen/Sammy Hagar.

I have seen so many ... it's hard to keep track. I love lots of different types of music ... classical to rock ... I love variety.

I guess my most memorable would have been the Earth, Wind & Fire with the Commodores opening ... I was soooo naive! As of late, it would have been the Van Halen Reunion tour with Sammy Hagar in 2004.

Front row seats, back stage passes, got to meet & greet the boys! Awesome pre buffet, jammed with the boys before the show, have a bass pick from Mike, and a couple of guitar pics from Eddie, missed getting one of Alex's drum sticks. Sammy Hagar actually came to sing in front of me, leaned down and I lost it ... I took off my red vest that I made to look like the Best of Both Worlds CD jacket ... and he put it on, wore it for the rest of the next song, and then signed it ... gave it back to me ... Priceless!
30.gif

I would love to go see Paul Mccartney ... last show was $3,000! Sorry ... too expensive. I would love to see Elton John, and some day I would love to see Andrea Bocelli preform Live!

Here is one of my pics from the show ... sorry about the quality ... it was a throw a way flash camera. We were told that they would confiscate our camera or video equipment ... and I didn't want to risk it. Good thing, cause they actually took one guys video cam away. They were taping that particular show, and My vest got on the footage! {{{SO SWEET!}}}

Anyone here been around long enough to have seen The Beatles?
Kind of
31.gif
.....I have a sister who is quite a few years older than me who was a huge Beatles fan. Mother was pg with me when my sister went to the London Palladium to see them in the ''60s. By all accounts all you could hear was the screams standing outside, no music at all. But I was sort of there! Must be why I have loved John all these years...
25.gif

I'll play!!!! doobie Brothers in the70's in australia. James Taylor in 1983 and got invited back to the after part but sigh...... too scared to go

Coldplay boy these guys can work the crowd
I have U2 + eric Clapton oh and Kane West too look forward too in the comimg momths

First concert: Oingo Boingo, Halloween show in the late 80''s in Irvine, CA. We saw them every year after until they broke up in 1995, what fun!

I can''t name my best, I''ve seen a lot of great shows: U2, DMB, Rolling Stones, Tom Petty (best seats I''ve ever had at a show and what fun it was!), and lots more that aren''t coming to mind at the moment.

My favorite concert memory: My sister and I have been seeing J. Buffett every year for about the last seven (but missed this year, boo hoo!). She always swore she''d marry a man she met at a Buffett show, and four years ago she met her now hubby. He and his friend were sitting next to us at Shoreline Ampitheatre, (they were from San Jose, she and I were living in Sacramento at the time) she and I were following the show to San Diego, so we hung out with them for the night and went on our merry, hungover way the next morning...he called when we got home, they married nine months later and now have a beautiful 9 month old son and that''s that. Very funny, she predicted it.

The one I remember right off hand was my first at 13, the Beach Boys, at an open air concert.

The best by far was Billy Joel, 7th row, in a small theatre.

HI:

Saw Bruce Springsteen about 11 years ago and he just blew me away. Outrageously good. I mean, I've enjoyed the Stones, U2, Fleetwood Mac (highschool ha!), The Guess Who (dating myself here), Eric Clapton, Shania Twain, and Sarah Brightman, ; but Bruce was simply amazing.

ETA: Jethro Tull with "the doctor" ( I knew there were more...but I must have been under TheDoctors spell)

My first concert was Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr., which I went to with my parents.

I loved Madonna's concert back in 1986 (Who's That Girl? tour, I think).

I also attended a Bon Jovi concert back in 1986.

John (Cougar) Mellencamp was cool. Travis Tritt was great. He is a great guitar player.

Also saw a Shania Twain concert and Faith Hill concert. Faith Hill was doing a free concert (before she became super famous), and she was so great. She has such a strong, pure voice, and could sing all styles of music (blues, soul, country, rock) so well.

I''ve seen U2 twice and Madonna 3 times. Those are my favorite shows so far.

Where in LI are you from Maui?

Hey Rhino

At the time you saw that Pink Floyd show I was in Westbury LI. Now I''m in Bayside which I guess is NOT Long Island but still part of Long Island. I just hate the way Queens sounds.

I heard about the possible reunion as well. If only it was another "Wall" tour. My husband and his friends were just the kind to see any concert that would come around. He are a few groups he has seen and I only WISH I had . . . Led Zeppelin (the song remains the same tour) and he saw STYX and Meatloaf (I want to see Meatloaf!!!!) Hey, new album is coming out this fall so I''m sure a tour will follow.

Now ssshhh . . . at that time and a few years past that I was dating a Long Island circuit drummer. Spent many times at all the local Long Island Clubs. Hammerheads, Speaks, The 3rd Rail are a few this old gal can think of now. I have seen Zebra so many times I can''t even count. Twisted Sister, the Good Rats, Rat Race Choir (my cousin was the keyboardist for a few years). Then of course there was Queensryche at Lamour''s off Northern Blvd.
Metal was coming out and was the THANG in the 80''s

Some of the bigger concerts at this time were seeing RUSH (more times then I can count), Aerosmith, Ozzy, Molly Crue, ACDC, Black Sabbath, I did see Roger Water''s twice (Pros & Con''s of Hitch hiking tour - same tour, 2 different dates)

Then there was Genesis (loved that show), and Billy Joel Storm Front tour at Yankee Stadium There was HEART a few times, Journey,

Very first concert ever . . . Boston, with Poco, Todd Rundgren, and some other band that I cannot remember right now. It was a 4 band all day concert at Giant Stadium sometime in the 1970''s. I was so into Boston at one time.

The latest concert I have been to was this past Holiday season at MSG. Went to see TSO (Trans Siberian Orchestra) WOWZAAAAAA. Totally LOVED that show.

Now the one show I have been trying to score tickets to for the past 3 years is Jimmy Buffett. Get right to the box office when tickets go on sale, just to find out they are sold out! Every single year. Unless your a scalper, you just cannot get tickets and I refuse to pay scalper markup!

Ok, think I have typed way too much now.

"Very first concert ever . . . Boston, with Poco, Todd Rundgren, and some other band that I cannot remember right now."

Bet THAT was a good one.

What''s so funny to me is that with some of these old bands, I can''t remember which ones I really saw live!

I for sure saw Elton John and Bob Dylan. My husband went to see the Rolling Stones but I didn''t like them and didn''t go. He also went to Eric Clapton. Steve Martin came to my college...does that count?! He was really funny! Others that came were Janis Ian and Todd Rundgren. I probably wouldn''t remember that if someone else hadn''t mentioned it.

My favorite concert of all time was Paul McCartney. Every song brought back memories. You could really hear him sing, and he was still cute! I saw him before Linda died. I was impressed that they managed to stay married all those years when so many celebrities upgrade spouses like we do diamonds! I''m sad for him that the second one didn''t turn out so well.

Very first...the Guess Who, during their American Woman tour, in 1969.
B.B. King more times than I can count.
The Stones 3 times.
Queen, Bob Marley, Aerosmith, Genesis, David Bowie 3 times, Supertramp, and, yes, Yes too, 4 times.
U2 was a highlight, definately.

Sister Sledge and The Village people.....what was I thinking?
The Police 3 times
Sting.
Neil Young and Crazyhorse
Deep Purple, in about 1974
Blue Oyster Cult (hmmmm...)
Carlos Santana
Paul Simon
Jethro Tull a few times, one of them with CanukGal when we were little...

Regretfully missed The Who in 1976. I won''t go this time, we''re both too bloody old....and possibly too deaf...

I still think of you, David, everytime I hear JT........ heheheee.... (age and infirmity)

BTW, my DH did see The Who way back when, and he still talks about it....

Very first concert was in 7th or 8th grade....Inxs!

The next one and the most memorable was Depeche Mode Music for the Masses! I wore that T-Shirt to the GROUND!!! My friend's dad got us young gals a limo and the driver made the mistake of leaving the booze in the limo!!!! Well, let's just say that one girl lost her lunch as soon as we got there. GROSS! I think the limo trip may have given the concert a run for its money!

And oh god, does anyone remember They Might Be Giants? Little Suzie B. got thrown into a mosh pit! That was a scene...A bunch of catholic school high school girls from the track team diving in to get her out! :0

Believe it or not, I'm a huge Metallica fan and would have loved to see them in concert...but alas, Jason is no longer with them and is busy making a fool of himself on Supernova and at 33, I'm afraid I'm a tad too old for that show!

Metallica opened for the Rolling Stones twice last year in san francisco: first concert on sunday they toned down a bit as they knew the crowd wasn''t familiar with them...opening act had not been announced when the tickets went on sale. however, people knew who was going to open for the 2nd show: Metallica let it rip as they knew their fans were there....met a couple from Amsterdam that belong to a Metallica fan club there. great concert all way around.

best: Rolling Stones, BRIDGES TO BABYLON, Oakland, California, November 1997. Pearl Jam opened. concert was almost called because of all the rain.....but i had my scotland rain gear on and wasn''t bothered. many left but the concert ended up starting late but was a go evenutally. the rain had driven many out so it was the real true fans left: sitting in the rain with real fans and listening to the Stones who were giving it their all.....priceless, as the saying goes.

movie zombie

ps i have my tickets for the Stones, oakland, november 5, 2006.

Wowza Cehra!!! Awesome!!! I would have loved to see INXS back in 83!!! I was out on an AirCraft Carrier at that time.
6.gif
That''s neat you got to go backstage too and all. Our most recent one we went to see Bon Jovi (wife''s a BIG FAN) at Giants Stadium here and was during the heatwave here up north. Torturous but a great show. They played with Nickelback and it was an awesome show. Funny thing ... my cousin is in Jovi''s offical fan club (has been for years) and he pulled her up on the stage during the show and she was on the big screen dancing with Jon!
37.gif
It was a real pisser watching her dance with him (if we can call all that jumping up and down dancing?)
3.gif
What was your first concert Cehra?
you were in the navy? so was my husband - he was on the lincoln in 95. I was a bonafide navy wife for almost 6 years and we were stationed in upstate NY for almost 3 of it! LOL

My first concernt... ahem... it was the inxs concert in 1983. my mom took me. It was my 13th birthday ROFL!!!!

First concert, INXS.

Most important ''I saw an icon'' concert, David Bowie in this Glass Spider tour in Tacoma, WA.

Most annoying concert (to me), The Grateful Dead in Las Vegas.

My most transcendent fabulous I-still-smile-when-I-think-about-them concert experiences always involve Wilco. Favorite band ever, especially in concert.
hehe my best friend went "on tour" with the GD and painted people - some faces, some boobs, some... well you get the idea lol

I''m not sure what my most memorable concert was. The first one I ever saw with my parents was Helen Reddy ("I am woman hear me roar") and her backup singer was Barry Manilow who was much better than she was. Some of the other concerts I have seen are : The Steve Miller Band, Yes, The Doobie Bros., Jethro Tull, Todd Rundgren, Billy Joel, Bryan Ferry (from Roxy Music), and Huey Lewis and the News. I think I am forgetting some of them. Actually, maybe the most memorable one was Billy Joel. He put on a GREAT show.

Actually, Rhino, I am old enough to have seen the Beatles on their first U.S. tour in 1964. That concert was certainly memorable because I was almost crushed to death in the mad scramble to get in. I was also a little young to understand all the hysteria and turned to my teen-aged sister and said, "We''d be able to hear a lot better if everyone would stop screaming." She looked at me like I was crazy.

Another classic was Elvis in 1971 in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand. This was the thin Elvis who was making a comeback with "Suspicious Minds" and "Kentucky Rain" (if I remember correctly). I went with my parents who were actually bigger Elvis fans than me but I have to admit he put on a great show. I couldn''t get over the fact that they brought you all the drinks included in the cover charge before the show started so I had 3 glasses of Coke staring me in the face the whole night.

Not to say they were the best, but most memorable for various reasons. I know I used to go to a lot of shows I don't know why they escape me. I saved all the ticket stubs so maybe someday I will reflect.

Ozzy around 1991 - met a cute boy and the guy from school I had a crush on shook hands with Zakk Wylde (who I also thought was a hottie at the time) anyhow, I used it as an excuse to kiss my crush's hand. Hey I was in high school. Ah, just remembered that Ozzy told everyone to come up on stage and they did and I got smashed for awhile. One leg on either side of a metal rail (don't ask how). It was a weird calm like when you are held under by a wave and utterly powerless. I just thought oh gee, I'm going to lose my leg. Struggle. Oh that's better, not the whole thing just my knee down. Struggle. Just my ankle. Squirm. I'm Free, but wait I'm still smashed in with all these people who for some lame reason want to go on stage.

Jay-Z at the House of Blues. This may have been my last concert and why I remember it. 311 at the same venue different year it was an amazing show.

Numerous L.A. Guns shows back in their heyday.

Sheryl Crow and The Counting Crows both put on great shows.

Ah, NOFX in SF. Mosh Pit. I got to push some burly guys back into a circle. Kind of thrilling. Oh and I really like NOFX.

Most memorable even thru the marijuana hazed days of my youth -- Black Sabbath, Leon Russell, Jethro Tull. Most recent was last year -- James Cotton. Love the blues.

Both would have been fab! (no pun intended)...but I would have loved to have seen Elvis!!!

cheers--Sharon

Pink Floyd ~ The Division Bell 1994 Best concert ever hands down...even without Roger Waters!

Aerosmith always puts on a good show, and we used to live quite close to them in Boston, and ran into Steven Tyler and Joe Perry several times at the Kingston mall (separately). The camera doesn''t do ST justice, much bigger and more attractive in person!

Matchbox 20, Train, Fuel, BB King, John Cougar Mellancamp, Ozzy Osbourne, Alice in Chains, George Thoroughgood, Lenny Kravitz, Pink, Steve Miller Band, Blink 182, Edwin McCain.....and more that I just can''t think of right now! Oh...and the Spice Girls, although not by choice but for my 9-yr old niece!

I''m thinking of taking my 12 (almost 13) to see Gnarls Barkley....he sings that new song, "Crazy" which you either love or despise!

Tawn!!!! You''re soooo lucky! I totally *big giant puffy heart* Aerosmith! I''ve been to see them eight times, and they always put on such a great show (for me, any of those concerts is the most memorable...hehehe)!

My first concert was Offspring, I''ve also been to see Bush with No Doubt as an opener (My friends and I all had such a huge crush on Gavin Rossdale...we were front row and ended up getting stuck in the middle of a mosh pit!), and Candlebox, Sugar Ray, Kid Rock, Sponge, Fuel, Tommy Lee, KISS, Shania Twain and Bon Jovi (I''ve seen them three times- they''re my second fav behind Aerosmith)!
