I finally took a few halfway decent pictures of a few of my loose stones and some of my jewelry. First is the picture of my 8.05ct ruby that I''m setting. Here is the post about that.

I''m not sure if you can see the other gemstones in the picture. There are two rows. Top row is my 6.0 star sapphire. Then my 4.2ct pink Sapphire. The last bag has 3 smaller rubies in them. I think they are each around 1.5-2ct. On the lower corner is one of my orange sapphires i believe it is 1.18ct. Then my huge green amethysts- I don''t remember the carat weight but it is 14x14. Then you can barely see my lemon quartz in the corner.

Just a few more: hope you like my table cloth!
Top row in baggies from the left-
lemmon Quartz
Green Topaz
6 ct Star sapphire

Middle row in Boxes:
Dan Stair Blue Montana Sapphire .93ct, Purple/pink spinel from Rick at Art Cut Gems 1.18ct?, Blue/ Green BB Tourmaline, Deep Red/orange garnets from BB as well. The larger one is 7mm and the smaller one is 6mm I believe. And finally my 8.05 ct Ruby

Last Row:
Orange Sapphires, 6.40 ct Apache Peridot, 1.25 emerald, I believe the blue topaz is 17 carats and in the same box is the other BB 6mm Deep red/orange garnet.

Sorry my camera skills are not better! Here are a few of my everyday rings. They are all either 14 or 18 k WG.

From left on Ring Finger:
3.5ct blue topaz that is extremely dirty
my .76 Natalie K engagement Ring - which i'm upgrading next month!!!!!!!!!!
Wedding band with .50 diamonds

Middle Finger
5.0 carat citrine which I bought off of ebay. I have a pair of earrings that I bought and this ring matches exactly with them
6+ carat yellow sapphire eternity ring thought it looks orange in this picture...not sure why?

Pointer Finger:
1.12 Blue sapphire and .40ct diamond ring. This was the first piece of jewelry my husband bought for me besides my engagement ring. it is an asscher cut sapphire that is a rich velvet blue color. It looks more navy in here...but when you see it in person it is more royal blue like a true sapphire.
.90ct eternity emerald ring
1.11 ct ruby necklace with .20 diamonds around- bezel set in 18k white gold.

Ok I hope you like a little peak at a few of my lovelies! On day when I get up the energy again I will take some more photos--maybe of my earrings this time

Oh last one though i think I have posted this one before, but it is my pride and joy!

I forget the exact carat weight on the sapphire it is between 1.75-2ct I believe. It is my cornflower blue unheated and untreated sapphire from Cyleon. The color doesn''t pop very well on this picture. but it is stunning in real life. And it is my only YG piece that I own though i''m trying to expand out to YG and RG.

Very lovely!! That ruby is HUGE, what''s the story behind it if you don''t mind my asking?

I also really like the BB tourmaline!

Beauteeful!!!

Hi MTG of course you may ask. We had a friend stationed in Afghanistan -sp?- and he would buy rubies for some of the wives here. Those are the smaller ones that I had in a bag. They were pretty but not worth very much maybe a few hundred dollars each and my husband always lectured me on just buying other things or doing something else with the money as apposed to buying gemstones that were probably treated etc.

Anyhow about 8 or 9 months ago he had to go on a business trip to Dubai and came back with the 8.05ct ruby for me and told me to get rid of the smaller ones. He said he bought it off a loose gemstone trader there that was reputable- if there is such a thing. I was so over the moon when he showed me.

Sarahbear, that ruby is truly stunning! You have such a thoughtful husband. I can''t wait to see how your ring turns out!

Sarah,
I enjoy seeing the variety of colours. Great husband you have there too.

color! I told my husband that when we got married I would have to express my individuality and crazy personality another way and ta da I found gemstones! I love the bright vibrant colors. I''m trying to find a bright green right now, but so far haven''t found anything that I''m in love with in my price range. It might have to wait till after the holiday season. There is a chrome tourmaline on Rick''s website that has my name all over it....just have to be patient though. if it is meant to be it will be. perhaps I should post a thread on it and enable someone else so I will stop stewing over it....

Lovely collection Sarah!

What a collection! And some big stones there, the topaz and ruby are both huge!
Gorgeous! Thanks for sharing.

You have some really beautiful stones, and that ruby is amazing!

Just one word of caution though, try not to keep several stones in the same box as they might damage one another due to differences in hardness (like topaz and garnet). The same goes for other jewellery as well, so try to keep loose stones separate from jewellery, and pieces of jewellery in individual boxes as well. Now that was more than one word but still...

Indeed! Just lovely!!!!

Lovely collection Sarah. You may have answered this before (and please excuse me if you have) but are you going to have the Ruby certified/lab checked before getting it set? With an 8ct beauty I would definitely do that. I have a 6.5ct Ruby and I had it checked out because I wanted to know more about it. The one thing I learned was that it has a tiger stripe inclusion which I find fascinating but can only see with a loupe!!!!

I'm intrigued by your Peridot as well - what's an Apache Peridot? I've never heard of one before.

Love the orange sapphires. What are your plans for those?

Edit: I meant to say that I adore your ideas of settings for the Ruby - it'll look stunning!

Thanks LD- Apache Peridot is Peridot from an Apache reservation in Arizona. I forget the name of it- I believe there are actual two reservations that do this.

For the orange sapphires- I did have another thread on them- here! I think I will do something very similar to Fly Girl''s dangle earrings. But I will probably halo them or include another gemstone maybe. I haven''t quite decided but I think hers are gorgeous!https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/setting-ideas-for-earrings.125060/

I will probably get the ring certified when I''m statesidein November, but it will already have been set- so I''m not sure how it changes things. To be honest I''m not to worried about it. My husband has a good eye for gemstones and he always manages to find them for unbelieve prices. My jeweler did comment it was one of the best colored rubies he has seen for awhile, but the clarity and cut aren''t wonderful- but I"m not complaining as I love the size. I''m hoping to have pictures of my ring by next week and i''m justing bouncing in my chair till then!

I''m glad you''ll get your Ruby appraised. The thing that always worries me about rubies is that they are now being beryllium diffused and the colour looks wonderful on them - you can''t tell by eye. Also, lead filling is incredibly common so for your own piece of mind it will be good to know if anything has been done to it. It really does need to be unset (I think) although maybe there are some labs that will test with the stone mounted. I have no idea how good/bad/ugly the UGL are but I''ve seen certificates from them with gemset jewellery. Don''t forget also that for insurance purposes you''re better knowing what you''ve got so you don''t under/over pay on the premiums.

Hope that helps and I REALLY can''t wait to see the finished ring. It''ll be stunning.

I also think you are doing the right thing to get the stone appraised either by a lab or a good independent appraiser. It’s good not to just get a feel for the real (replacement) value but also in its care should it be lead filled.
