Today me and my BF went to an appt we made for Mark T at engagement rings direct and it went fantastic. So fantastic that my BF secured the diamond and it is practically ours!!! Woohoo

Thanks ladies! I am having trouble deciding what I want for a setting

There was a toss up of 3 between a Diana setting, a Leigh Nacht antique one and an Ingwer but not one of these incorporates what I think I want.

So I might go custom through Mark if the price is right :) I really like his Chloe solitaire setting. What I like is the claw prongs and cathedral look. I might stick with tapered sides but add small pave down 3/4 of the band with miligrain. Also I want pave to show underneath on the bar sort of like Papillon has on here. I put the links sorry I couldnt load the pictures.

The Chloe ring is so pretty and would look great with the size and cut you''re getting. Congrats!
 
what about one of the JbEG settings? I really like the sophie, and they also do custom design

I''ll keep on searching and wait to hear back from Mark in a couple weeks... theres not really a rush since I know the BF prob wont propose til end of summer

I also got a diamond from Mark at ERD today (arriving Friday, yay!). I haven''t chosen a setting, but I loved the Cartier 1895 and he recommended the Chloe to my bf as well. It''s a stunner :)

Isn''t it exciting? It''s all a bit overhwhelming at the same time

Cali-- congrats to you too! what kind of stone is it? I was very overwhelmed after we left... I felt like I didnt think of questions to ask and it was so final.. so now I am a little worried but I think it''ll pass. The Cartier 1895 is really classy too... I am so torn

I think I will end up doing something custom since I have all these ideas running around in my head now hehe

Phew, I''m glad I''m not the only one that gets a little nervous about picking out a diamond. There are so many unseen options, I always feel like I''m missing out on something *possibly* better.

I actually got a big ole round from mark. I''m honestly worried it might be a little too big (blasphemy I know).

But anyways, yes keep posting updates; I want to see what king of setting you come up with :). I just love cushions too and had a whole thread about how I switched from cushion to round...
 
OOOOOh I love the head on the Chloe setting!!!! If you can afford custom I think it would look amazing with pave down the sides and migraine edges... swoon

Cali-- I wish my rock was a smidge bigger since cushions face up smaller but I love love the thick crown the OMB has so its a trade off lol

Oh my goodness!!! That is a stunning ring!!! What kind of metal are you looking for? Maybe you can see what the price difference is between a plat version vs. a wg version. Sometimes that helps with the cost, unless you have your heart set on a plat already!
 
OMG. my heart stops a little when I saw the ring. It's VERY pretty!!!

ditto to luckyeshe. My tacori is WG because my RHR is also WG and it looks great. I never take off my RHR and I can hardly see the scratches on it. Plat is more expensive, so I'm glad I went to WG anyways. Also, I didn't want the scratches to be very noticable on a plat ring. Some people have reaction to WG though.
 
Luckyeshe-- I know platinum can raise the price by a lot.. I do prefer that it be platinum but maybe if it the price comes back to high then I can try WG

I asked for a quote for a thinner band with smaller pointers and forgot to mention the metal so I am anxiously awaiting for a reply :eek:

Beezy-- this is the first time my heart stopped when i saw a setting... well actually it was all due to Nosirrah's post https://www.pricescope.com/forum/show-me-the-ring/2-05-cushion-avc-gog-in-jbeg-setting-t144146.html and then i saw it the other day on Jbegs site and really really couldn't imagine anything more perfect :lickout: heheh

So going with WG is definately an option since I'd have to ship the diamond and get it insured fedex overnite etc to do so which might cost $$$, I'm not sure never had this experience

We are going to go through with the Jbeg Sophie setting with pave, custom with 1.5 pointers instead of 2 pointers for a thinner shank better for my 1.5ct center stone :love: :lickout: OMG I have died and gone to heaven ... I love my BF!!!

Now its is waiting time... wait till Mark gets back on the 19th and see how we can ship the stone to Jbeg... oh man I need some dust with lots of patience!

I'm so excited for you!!!! I can see that you must be soooooo giddy. I was like when I found my Tacori. My bf has a budget. With the diamonds we were looking at, we can't really get the Tacori I want. However, after buying a BETTER diamond online with such a good deal, my bf said I could get my Tacori. Even though he's still over his budget by a little, he was glad we were able to find such a good diamond with that price. We'll never look back and buy any diamond in the store now. Too expensive. I almost died a little and gone to heaven like few times a day. Sometimes, I'll just smile at myself and want to cry like a crazy person. I'm sorry, maybe I'm too extreme. But HURRAY FOR YOU!!! :love: :bigsmile:

DUST!!! Sorry, it's hard to be patience when you're so close to getting your dream ring. :loopy:

I can't believe everything just keeps working out great... the same with us about the stone. We had a budget and if we went with another person we wouldnt have been able to get such a great deal. So now I can have a little slice of heaven for my setting and the diamond I want! Thanks to PS... the new PS is really aggravating me though :nono: Now it says I am trade person and I took the setting off and it still says that LOL and I can't see all my pics when I try to post and I read the whole thread but nothing seems to be working correctly still GRRRRR hope it gets fixed soon it seems to be scaring everyone away too!

I know.. PS is great. I'm glad I discovered this site before we bought our diamond, or else I would be stuck with a diamond I'm not so happy with. Now, I know for sure my diamond is the best one for us. Our plan was to buy a H&A diamond in the store and then I have to pick another setting (a cheaper setting). I was still aiming toward a Tacori ring. Even though I KINDA like the other cheaper Tacori, it just wasn't the same, you know? I'm glad both of us get to find our dream ring.

I thought I'm the only one who has the trade person problem. I had to take off the setting TWICE and finally it's ok. What is a trade person anyways? I think you can add friends here now. That's cool. I've never tried it yet though.
 
It finally came off for me now.. I dont know why it added in the first place! A trade person is someone who is in the jewelry business... they are tagged so people will know now who they are talking to.


I saw you can add friends now too... I haven't tried it though. It would be more helpful if all the names of active members were there to select instead of having to type it in.
