My best friend got engaged over the weekend and I thought I''d share a picture of the ring. The pictures aren''t the best, as the camera we had on hand wasn''t the greatest. but the ring is just breathtaking. the funny thing is that my best friend is quite the tomboy, never wears more than a thin thin thin silver band on one hand (no necklaces, no earrings, doesn''t even have her ears pierced!!). and this ring is litereally the fanciest ring i''ve ever seen in person!! her fiance inherited this stone from his grandmother. I didn''t ask for specs but it''s some sort of antique cut and it''s at least 2 or 2.5 carats. You can''t see in the pictures, but there are 2 princess cut sidestones, and the band is knife-edge with three tiny round diamonds set in each side (both sides of the center stones and each side of the knife-edge). ring size 5.5.

here''s a picture of her ring dwarfing mine!! haha.. i''m still satisfied with mine but man, hers out-blings mine. the third hand is my other friend, patiently waiting to be blinged out...

Well it definitely looks more than substantial on her hand! And it sounds gorgeous. Is the antique center stone squared off, or is it a round with princess stones flanking? You need to grab her and take more photos!!!

i know!! she is so bashful and shy about wearing such an extravagant ring so i can barely even get her to show it to me at all. and i''m her best friend!! already blinged out, too!!

it''s a round stone, but my fiance says that the table is significantly larger in proportion to regular (or modern) cuts. the only thing i could identify about it was that it definitely had a thick faceted girdle (definitely a good thing for her, being the klutz and tomboy and all) and i think maybe the "top half" of it is a little taller than mine in proportion. also, her fiance''s grandmother bought it in japan, probably 20 or 30 years ago. the side stones are pretty large (probably 1/3C) princess cuts.

It looks beautiful!
