My Burma Myanmar gemstones :)

Oh my goodness! @Burmesedaze those jade cabs to die for! So gorgeous! Wishing you a very Happy Birthday! Wear it good health!

-C4C
PS. Love seeing your posts and all the gem goodies!

Really gorgeous! Congratulations Burmesedaze!
Are you still going to check out the light blue lavender cab?

Thank you. They look more translucent in low light for some reason.

No. The blue cab is in Mandalay and they refuse to post it down to Yangon for viewing so I will pass on it :)

Happy Birthday! This is one of my favorite threads on PS. When you go away or get busy with work and don't post, I worry about you.
I think @mellowyellowgirl should make the Pink Bandit get over his irrational fear of her staying in your basement. You guys can drink mountain dew while you kidnap her and hold her for ransom. It would be so much fun!

You are such a sweetheart :) it has been a mad period recently with so many unexpected changes. Thank you for caring!

Happy birthday! Hope you have a great vacation.

Your recent acquisitions have been stunning as usual. Love the jadeite cabs.

Am I seeing a semi transluscent ruby in the ring?

Yes. Pretty opaque!
I think the ones in the bracelet are African.

Zzzzz still in the queue for the catacombs.

Happy birthday and please come back from your vacation/PS break refreshed and with more exquisite eye candy!

With my simple red spinel ring at Versailles today. Nope, I don't see any difference in how daylight in the North or The Tropics brings out different tones. I was in rainy England before hopping over and it was red as I see it back home too.

Such a glowing stone. Really beautiful.

Nephrite Objets d'arte in Napoleon's apartment at The Lourve.

Just stunning and mind blowing the quality of design and hand work with simple tools. White nephrite has such a luminous glow and and unique texture.. those show it amazingly!

The purity of colour, texture, shape and carving. Be still, my heart :)

Overwhelming price tags, underwhelming quality :P

At one of the magasins today.

Still on the lookout for a nice ruyi but no cigar today. Popped into a gem fair and saw this. It's a rather thin slice (probably scarce material), was told it's old jadeite. Didn't like the dour sales assistant too, so passed on it. I'm funny that way. If the SA gives me the wrong vibes, I pass.

I completely understand. If the energy isn’t right, I’m not buying. Even if a piece is not perfect, if the energy is very good, I’ll go with it because it feels natural, and not forced. For me, purchases which were in some way pressured, whether by the mood or agendas of SA, or an instant need for satisfaction, have not worked out as well as those that come with that whole heart feeling and a relaxed quality. If something is onerously challenging to find, I just gently stay with it until it comes to be. I figure...I can wait a while as I’ll love it then as I do now, and if I don’t, I’ll be grateful that I saved the money for something else.

That is so true. You get all kinds of sellers and people and vibes and energy at these fairs.

I think I've reached the point where I'm in no hurry to buy anything else or rush to set. I enjoy looking at them in their loose forms too!

Which doesn't keep one from looking around and wanting to buy more :)

Lol, it doesn’t keep me from doing so either! Lol. But, it’s a good place to be. :)

Absolutely! You can never go wrong with that advice.

So what's a ruyi? I googled it and got lots of hits about a Chinese TV show. Also something about a scepter? It looks like a large locket type thing with jade inside. Just curious.

@suzanne2 yes! It refers to the sceptre and means as you wish.

Seaglow has such a ring. 9th Feb 18 post. I like this horizontal style.

They are more commonly carved like this in vertical form which doesn't appeal to me as it's a tad lopsided though it's easier for the carvers proportion wise. It also suits irregular pieces of jadeite rough.

Random it's only past 6pm, I'm stuck in a jam on an elevated road, pitch black skies and oh, nice chandelier.20181030_182133.jpg

Just a conjecture - are you in Italy? The chandelier looks Murano.

:lol-2:

I have been surfing for inspirations for jade settings, since I will have to go custom and CAD for my 2 green jade cabs. I've settled on this for my oval cab. Nothing has bitten me for the roundish one for a convertible pendant ring. Will take my time to think through.

A new mould for this has to be made as the cab is bigger than the chrysoberyl.

I like that with the split shank, do you have any more pictures of the gallery?
