I got to pick up my wedding gown today, and it fits! Actaully, it''s too big! (Whew!)

I ordered it without seeing it in this particular color combo, and I''m very happy with the result. It''s not too dark at all. Here are some bad pics (nothing like a backlight to mess up a picture, eh!?)

The dress was too big in the bust and too big in the hips so there are some size issues in those areas, but overall, I''m happy. Here we go!!

Here''s a detail shot where you can see the embroidery and colors.

And here''s another of the back. I like that you can see the front in the mirror. Hate that the train''s all clumped up because she didn''t pull it out.

That is just gorgeous! And you look so beautiful in it. I know it's probably just the pictures but it doesn't really look too big. I love it!

LOVE IT - it looks absolutely fantastic on you. I love how the color you chose looks so vintage on the beading part but then the bottom and the train is very flowy and romantic. Lovely

misysu, it''s gorgeous!!

My dress arrived too big as well. I had to get the dress taken in in the bust area, hemmed, bustle added, and some extra padding added to the bodice, and for some reason the person who altered my dress only charged $128. So I lucked out.

Oh its so pretty!!

You look beautiful in that dress!

Thanks so much for the kind comments, everyone. I''m glad you all like the final product!

Hi Misy!

Congrats on getting your dress! It looks absolutely gorgeous, and it doesn''t look too big at all!

I am REALLY concerned about what size I ordered my Casablanca in...would you mind sharing what size you normally wear in everyday clothes and what size you ordered your dress in? I am just curious to see how Casablanca sizing works.

Any other PS''ers with a Casablanca in hand, I would also love to hear from you on this, too!

Thanks so much!

Hey Harleigh,

My measurements are 34-24-37, and they gave me a size 6 dress, which fits perfectly in the waist, but is big in the bust and lower back area. I usually wear size 4 slacks, size 5-6 jeans, and small sized shirts. Seemed to me that the Casablancas just run 2 sizes small (counting odd and even numbers). How did you decide what size to order? Did you have someone measure you? I''d be happy to supply more details if you need them!!

Hi Misy,

So sorry I missed this...I have been sick again and just NOT myself these days...but I digress!

Thanks so much for your help. I had ended up ordering a size 4 as my measurements are 32(double dolly, tho!)-24/25 waist (yours is TINY!)-and am only about 33 in the hips. I am concerned that a 4 may be too small in the waist if yours is a 6, which, according to the Casablanca size chart, a size 6 should have a 25" waist. It seems like the hips won''t matter in my dress, but I suppose I will need to start working on those sit-ups between now and July!

So sad that I was only able to try this gown on in a size 14 & a 10, and they had to clip it so much in the back that I just couldn''t see a size 6 even coming close! I guess I''ll find out when it comes in June, though, won''t I???

Thank you again for taking the time to pass the details along to me...your dress looks fantastic on you!

Hey Harleigh,

I wouldn''t worry too much-- my waist is 24", but I still have to get it taken in in the lower back area. That could be the 25", but didn''t sit at my waist because it needs altered to fit my wacky measurements. Who knows?! Even if your 4 is small, I wouldn''t expect it to be too bad-- you''ll want it tight anyways if you''re getting a strapless, and the tailor can always take things out a tad, can''t they?

Good luck and keep us posted!!

Well, I am keeping my fingers crossed that it just fits (a girl can dream, can''t she???)

My dress is the Casablanca 1831 and it actually has straps and a fairly high back, no corset.

I don''t mind getting it altered, but I am worried about my time frame if too much work needs to be done...it''s not supposed to be in until the 2nd or 3rd week of June and I leave for Maui on July 17th, so since my time is so limited, I may just try to have a seamstress lined up and ready to go. Hopefully it comes with a tracking number for the shipping and I may be able to gauge when to make an appt. with someone.

I don''t remember which thread it was in, but could you please remind me when you ordered your dress and how long it actually took to come in? My brain is fuzzy right now, and I''m sure I remember you telling us, but I cannot for the life of me remember, and I am too tired to go look it up again!

Sorry!

Thanks again!

Wow, Harleigh! Your dress is beautiful!

Hmm, let''s see. I ordered my dress on Nov 13th, and it arrived last week. Luckystar also ordered and received her Casablanca recently, if you can hunt her down.

OMG! That was what, about 18 weeks or so? Pearl''s Place quoted me 3-4 months, and I am so worried that it is going to be the longer end of 4 months...yikes! What am I going to do if it doesn''t come in time? (Goes off to have her first panic attack, ever!)

Thanks for the compliments on the dress. I think it''s very flattering, but I just don''t think I''m one of those brides that gets all gushy over her dress...I was perfectly happy with my $51 number from ebay, but none of my friends liked it, so off to the bridal salons I went.

I really hope I didn''t wait too long to order my dress, but stressing about it won''t help me in any way OR get it hear faster, so I guess I will just have to keep my fingers crossed!

Thank you again for all the info...I''ll keep you posted on my dress when I learn more!
