As many of you recall, I got a garnet from Dan, dropped it into the grass/pine straw, searched for it for hours and never found it. So a few days later, I was on ebay and saw this really inexpensive pink tourmaline and thought "what the heck". It was like $16, so I was NOT expecting it to be nice at all.

I have to say - for the price, I just love this stone! The photos really are not capturing the color very well. No matter what light I''m in, it''s looks kindof dark and brownish. It''s really not - it changes from pink to pinkish/orange to pinkish/plumish. It''s got a great little personality! The cut looks pretty and it''s very brilliant (much more so than the photos are showing). The color isn''t the same all the way through the stone - there are areas that are lighter than others. And I guess what I''m seeing from the top is a window - but I don''t care. It''s very sparkly!

I think I may send it to one of the etsy vendors to have it bezel set in sterling silver. The stone is 1.76 ct. Can''t recall the exact measurement right now. Anyway, on to photos. I''d love to hear everyone''s thoughts. Don''t worry - you won''t hurt my feelings - it was so cheap that I have no intention of sending it back, even if I do nothing with it! I''d love to hear if everyone thinks it will look ok in a bezel. I think it will work well since the lighter areas seem to be on the outside edge of the stone anyway.

I think it''s a GORGEOUS stone! I''m recently finding that I''ve very attracted to gemstones. I never used to be a big fan because any gemstone jewelery I ever received was my birthstone (August - peridot), which was just never really appealing to me. I''d definitely put it into a bezel- I think they accentuate round cuts so nicely. Were you thinking full bezel or just a half (I''m rather partial to the half myself).

last one - I need to go take a few more to try to get the pink to show!

thanks erinleigh! I used to hate peridot but now that I''ve seen beautifully cut ones, I want one! I want one that''s kinda apple green though.

I auto-adjusted the color on one of the photos above...

but this stone is lovely.. and Bezeling... I"m so a fan of bezeling...

Wow, lucky YOU!! I purchased a pink tourmaline from my long time friends and vendor, to set in a Palladium setting. Pink tourmaline is my birthstone..I think you got a SUPER deal, I paid 250.00 for mine..an "A" stone..its smaller than yours and mine has more of a greenish brown tint to the pink..yours is REALLY pretty....

I''m sorry too, that you never found Dan''s stone.

But happy you bought a replacement, enjoy!

thanks Steel!

what a pretty replacement, nice color! I''m holding out hope that you''ll find dan''s stone.

Thanks tlh! The color of this stone is very similar to the color of the garnet I lost. This one is a little bigger and a little more brilliant/sparkly.

WOW you did GREAT!! It seems to have alot of nice colors in it. And the photos are really not too much, just the bare minimum if you ask me. You photos are very good by the way. TFS!

ENJOY!!

Very pretty. I would love one of those, too!

$16?? Get out of here..!

I''m a big fan of colored gemstones esp. garnet, tsavorite, citrine.
I think yours would look splendid in a micropaved halo...

Lovely!!!!!!

I LOVE this! What seller did you buy it from?

Hi katiedid - congratulations on getting an inexpensive tourmaline! I do think I see some areas of extinction along opposing edges (but heck, I'm not an expert, so don't take this too seriously), but the color that's coming through looks nice to me - almost raspberry. I also see a little brown in some (but not all) of the photos, but that's quite common. Compared to my pink tourmaline, I like your color better. All in all, if that were my stone for $16, I'd be pretty happy.

ETA: for the setting, my only hesitation about a bezel is that it might darken your stone, but I do like those etsy settings. It would be a fun ring at a great price!

thanks everyone! The seller was excellentgemstone (in Thailand). Not bad for $16 (plus shipping)!

great feedback cellentani-thank you! Yeah, I wondered if bezeling it would make it too dark. Hmmm.
