I finally have some photos my mother and cousin took of my dress earlier this summer and wanted to share. I hope you like it!

Also, I would love your opinions on veils with this dress. I had always envisioned myself with a veil (romantic chapel length preferably) but but after seeing myself in a couple of them, I think it might compete too much with the dress. What do you think? I''d be ok with some hair jewelry instead.

I''m also debating on having some straps and have painted some in for a visual. So, yes or no to straps?

First photo is full length shot of dress.

I'm completely new to dresses (first weekend shopping) and I can't answer any of your questions, but I just wanted to say that your dress is GORGEOUS! I think I like it without straps.

Same photo without the straps.

I vote no straps, and no veil- I must add that your dress is beautiful and I absolutely love it from behind!! (because those pictures seem to be the easier ones to see)
love it!

Your dress is very pretty! I like it without straps (although if they were skinny it wouldn''t make a huge difference) and it would be pretty with a shorter veil but I think a long one might be too much.

I vote no straps also, and a fingertip-length veil with a pencil edge. That type of veil will flow down your back and "into" your dress without competing with how beautiful your dress is in back.

I kind of like the straps.. As far as veils go, I think if you found one with less ''detail" and a thinner edge, it would look better with the dress.

I''d go with the shorter veil. I love it. I also like the straps on it too although it looks fab without them also.

Yah CDN, I love it! I''ve been waiting for pics. Honestly, your dress looks even better on you than it does on the model

I actually like the shorter veil on you ''cause it doesn''t distract from the beautiful detailing of your gown. I''m so excited for you

What she said. Every word. That dress is absolutely GORGEOUS!!!!! The translucent overlay at the train has the effect you''d get from a long veil, so looking at it with a shorter veil which has detail on the edge sort of interrupts the ''line" of the dress "visually speaking"

I also think you have beautiful, elegant, feminine shoulders and pretty arms, and a pretty bust. Starps would cut right into you at the shoulder, and draw sort of a little "square" right at the decollete. Your dress stays up, right? If not, have the seamstress fit it until you''re comfortable and sure that you won''t be pulling it up. No need for straps.

This is just SUCH a sweet, ethereal dress, and it''s so, so, so well suited to your pretty shape that I really don''t think it needs much more embellishment. Hair jewelry all the way!!

If you must, must, must have a veil, consider a cut-edge drop veil that ends where the train does, so it flows nicely without competing with the dress.

You look GORGEOUS, BTW. I love that dress.

I think a veil would look gorgeous, but I would say getting one without edging, you know those veils without edges?

I am just so crap at explaining these things!!! One that just floats and looks like it is melting into the dress would be great. I think having a veil with ribbon/beading on the edges would make it look obvious and compete with your dress.

You look diviine in your dress BTW!!!

Thanks for the compliment!

Did you have any luck shopping this weekend? Is there a thread? (Off to check...)

Thanks sparkly_stars! The back is my favourite part. I''ll have to make sure the guests are looking at my backside throughout the ceremony.

I am leaning towards no straps ''cause I don''t want to mess around too much with the dress but am finding it a bit hard to let go of the fact I did NOT want a strapless gown.

lovesparklies, I love your avatar! It''s beautiful.

I too agree a long one is too much. I have a photo of the back while I was wearing a long one and it overwelmed the dress. It''s weird the designer made such a long veil AND coat to go with this dress. Here''s a photo of the dress with the coat (I don''t know how else to describe this long robe-looking thing).

Thanks for the suggestion on the length of the veil! I''ll check it out. I have another question; how much does it matter for a veil to ''match'' the dress? Can the colour be off by a bit, do you think?

Thanks for weighing in, OUpeargirl.

I tend to be a "less is more" girl. I don''t know what I was thinking when they put all that tulle on my head!

They even got me to try on that ''coat''!

Thanks bee*!

Maybe I''ll have thin straps sewn in with the option of wearing them or tucking them in. Hmmm... I''m a Libra and horrible at making decisions; always weighing one option over the other!

LOL, Pocahontas! That model has absolutely no waist where I have too much; maybe I can share with her?! She looks hungry.

I went to Pearl''s House in Mississauga last week to check out the bridesmaid dresses and a knee length wedding gown by Vineyard caught my eye. It looked so beautiful on the hanger and I soooooooo wanted to try it on. My friend, the enabler, kept egging me one to try it. You wanna hear the funny part? The dress was named after my FI. My friend kept saying it was fate: it had FI''s name and it was short and flirty - perfect for Mexico.

MY dress is called Violino; when I was bringing it to Canada from Europe, the Customs Agent asked me if I was importing a musical instrument in my garment bag!

Hey wedding date twin!

Is it wrong for me to say ''I love you''?!

LOL Thanks so much for the compliments; they''re MUCH appreciated, especially since I''m having a hate-hate relationship with the upper arms right now.

The dress does fall down a bit but has a built-in belt that a tailor can tighten for me. I don''t wanna be tugging it all night.

Thanks again!

PS: how''s your planning coming along?

Hey honey!

I know exactly what kind of veil you''re describing; it''s actually the one I envisioned. (The two veils seen in the photos are those that were designed to go with the dress.)

Floaty and ethereal is the look I''m going for!

Thank you!

CDN, you''re too funny! Girl, you''ve got a fantastic figure and just the right amount of waist and everything else! I agree the model looks totally hungry and in need of a serious meal though
3.gif
By the way, I like the way your friend thinks, you could always be a two dress bride ya know?! You wouldn''t want to mess with fate, afterall
31.gif
Funny story about your dress being mistaken for an instrument!

Beautiful dress! It looks great on you. So romantic!

I vote for no straps. I agree that they might interrupt the visual "flow" of the neckline.

I like veils for a more bridal look, but I don''t think this dress needs a veil. That said, I think it could look lovely and romantic with a veil. As other posters have mentioned, I think the prettiest veil would be a very simple, single- or double-layer veil with no trim. I think it could be chapel-length, but a fingertip-length one would be nice too.

Oooh, what a gorgeous dress! It look perfect on you! Who makes it? If you said it I must have missed it!

As for the straps, I vote no straps! And for the veil, I vote plain veil with no edging if you do one. I can''t decide about the short vs. long, though...sorry!

You''re baaaad, Pocahontas, but I like it!

I do want a second dress for the after-party.... Hmmm...
