Beautiful dress! It looks great on you. So romantic!

I vote for no straps. I agree that they might interrupt the visual ''flow'' of the neckline.

I like veils for a more bridal look, but I don''t think this dress needs a veil. That said, I think it could look lovely and romantic with a veil. As other posters have mentioned, I think the prettiest veil would be a very simple, single- or double-layer veil with no trim. I think it could be chapel-length, but a fingertip-length one would be nice too.
Thanks for commenting kittybean!

I''m convinced - no straps!

Part of the struggle I''m having with the veil is that I want one but, honestly think it looks a little silly on me, KWIM?

I don''t know what it is... But, you''re absolutely right, the dress doesn''t need it.

Oooh, what a gorgeous dress! It look perfect on you! Who makes it? If you said it I must have missed it!

As for the straps, I vote no straps! And for the veil, I vote plain veil with no edging if you do one. I can''t decide about the short vs. long, though...sorry!
Thanks so much, thing2of2!

I don''t think I mentioned the designer in this thread (my bad). It''s a Pronovias gown under the (2009) Manuel Mota line. The dress isn''t on their website, although, to be honest I wouldn''t have looked at it twice if it was because I really didn''t want a strapless dress. When the SA brought it in to the change room "just for a look" I had to try it on. It was so light and floaty, I thought it was perfect for the venue. It helped that my dad, who was there with me and my mom, loved it. It was the only one he had a reaction to.

It''s perfect! I vote for no straps or veil.

The dress looks absolutely phenomenal on you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love it! That train is to die for! It''s gorgeous, CDN! It''s the prefect dress for you, you look fabulous in it!

Also, no straps please! It has that wonderful floaty feel/look to it, and straps block the floatiness. I like the shorter lace veil on you rather than the longer one - the long one hides your gorg. train. I would suggest something that is just one tier but comes up to your bum level....which would be slightly longer than your shorter one. I love the lace on the veil...you could also go with just a satin lining around the edges.

So happy you found THE dress!!!

I''m going through the same thing re: straps vs. no straps. (And I''m also a Libra - go figure.) I''m having a hard time reconciling the fact that strapless necklines look fantastic on me with the fact that strapless was the absolute last neckline I wanted. I just feel like it''s so overdone in wedding dresses, and I don''t know if I can get over that enough to wear it strapless. I''m probably going to add a halter strap to mine, or maybe get cap sleeves but wear them off the shoulder. Here''s my thread in case you''re interested in weighing in.

Like yours, my dress is more of a straight-across neckline than a sweetheart, and I think that''s the problem. Spaghetti straps look a lot better on a sweetheart because they go with the natural flow of the neckline. I also don''t think a halter strap or anything else would really look right on your dress. Maybe cap sleeves if they''re done right? Or how about a shrug? You didn''t seem too keen on the long jacket, but what if it were just over the shoulders, without the length? Otherwise, I''d probably keep it strapless.

As for the veil, I think that the tulle overlay of the dress would compete with a long veil too much. An elbow-length veil or no veil at all would be better, IMHO! So if we''re choosing from the ones you have pictured, I''d go with the shorter one. But if it were up to me, I''d forego the veil altogether and maybe do a cool hairstyle with flowers or something instead.

Thanks for weighing in Harriet!

PS: I want some Payards but without the flirting waiter on the side please....

Thank you kama for all the lovely comments! I appreciate the feedback, especially after I began to doubt my choice since purchasing it.

Jstarfireb, everything you posted is what I've been thinking too! I so wanted something more unique than a strapless dress but the ones I tried on with little cap sleeves seemed to draw unwanted attention to certain - ahem - upper-body parts.

Thanks for posting your thread; your dress looks gorgeous on you! It looks beautiful as is but if you find the right material and seamstress, the halter could look as fabulous.

After reading everyone's responses, I've decided against my little strap fantasy. I'm still unsure about the veil (I won't be choosing from the ones in the photos) but am leaning towards flowers or hair jewelry to dress up my hair. Are you getting the veil you're wearing in your photos? It's a really nice length on you!

Hey CDN - just wanted to tell you I love your dress!

Also - I had planned to be a no-veil bride. I have a Pronovias gown as well and with all the lace, the veil just made it seem over the top. However, the salon worker brought me a very, very simple little thing out. I don''t know if there is a name for it, but it''s basically just off-white sheer tulle attached to a comb, and it went perfectly with the gown. If you do decide to do a veil, I would do something really simple to let your GORGEOUS dress take center stage@

Thanks for the feedback! Yes, the veil is mine...I actually got it to go with another dress, which I then returned when I got this one. But the veil works nicely with both.

Hey Maggie!

I''m hoping you''ll post photos of your wedding; your dress is gorgeous and I''d love to see how you put the whole look together. I''m sure it''s gonna be stunning.

How lucky your veil worked with both dresses. It looks perfect with your gown!

I''ll post pics. If you like it, you can borrow it. Not like I''ll be needing it again.

Wow, Maggie, that''s really kind and generous of you! I''d love to have your veil be my ''something borrowed''!
