i thought this was neat! really crazy timing. my mom called today and said that my grandmother found my great great grandmother''s wedding invitation a few days ago in an old photo album! nobody had ever seen the invitation, and here, right after i pick out my invitations her invitation surfaces!!! i am really dying to see it, but prob won''t for a few months! anyways i have never seen a really old wedding invitation. my mom said that it has serrated edges and that it is really small. i wish so badly that they would give the invitation to me, but i''m sure my mom will keep it!

anyways i thought this was a neat find that only fellow brides would appreciate

ATTN cococlaw''s mom.. please put this invite in a fancy frame and give it to her for her "Something old"

Awww! How neat. I treasure everything my grandmother gives me. She gave me a whole album of original photos from her wedding in Shanghai, China. I was just thrilled! I need to invest in a fire-proof safe, if just for those!

sizzle: your words to her ears!!!!!!!!!!! i don''t have a "something old" and that would work just fine :)

amanda: that is so neat! i have only seen one picture from my grandmother''s wedding, but i love this kind of family stuff. you absolutely need to make sure that is secure...that album is a real treasure!

That''s so neat coco!! I hope you get it!

At my grandparents'' 50th anniversary last summer, they still had their invoice from the wedding. I think their total was a few hundred bucks!

I''ll throw out an idea...if you like it maybe you can find somewhere to include it...like on your table with the
reception cards or maybe where people sign the book...

Have your grandmothers wedding invite, your invite and your parents invite all famed in different but matching
frames. Also get your husbands parents (and grandparents if possible). Then display them on a table somewhere.
It would make a unique and interesting table display.

sunnyd: how cool!!!!!!! that is such a neat thing to have. i would never dream of keeping invoices-what a neat thing to have been kept for so long. i bet a few hundred dollars was a lot back then!

tyty: that''s a good idea! i might to talk to some people about it. my mom is divorced, so we wont display hers :)! i might try to find my grandmother''s and my fiance''s parents though to display with mine and my great great gm. good thinking!

That is so neat! Would love to see a photo as well--am very curious to see what invites looked like back then!

cool! please share pix if your mom ever lets it go and give it to you!

That is really neat! I love old things!

My grandmother''s wedding photo is in my house and I was struck by how different the entire process was. She is posed infront of a backdrop of a church. Not even the church she was married in. My mom said that back when my grandmother got married there were a LOT of rules about photography in the church and on the church grounds. She said when she and my father got married my grandmother was very weirded out about having a photographer taking pictures in the church. I''ve never given a photographer in the church a second thought!

I have my parents wedding invite framed in my house. I actually took their wording and used it in my invites as a way to pay homage to their relationship and how important it is to me.
