My new AVC

@Mamabean - I totally get what you're saying!! And - YES! As soon as you said it I saw what you meant; something about the mirror-like finish on top of a darker background. Well, if I can get that feel with this stone, I'll be very happy indeed!!

Thanks, @lovedogs - me too. :))

Thank you, @foxinsox - I'm glad you like it. Every day the double bezel idea is solidifying, so I think we have a winner!
You’re very inspiring! I went over to James Allen and went as warm as it went which was M..plugged in round VS1 and a size around ideal cut 38/40..It was so pretty! I’m thinking of getting something made with something that size..like a bracelet..DBTY? Sorry to hijack but you get my mind going with bling!

cant wait to see it set!!! :appl:

I'm looking forward to seeing what you go with. That double bezel is so unique and cool, now I want one!

Hi @AV_
...eeek!...I'm not sure I'm trying to be daring...but I DID want something very warm

You put into words (& deeds!) what I have ever fealt about these slightly coloured diamonds - they are 'very warm'... in the same way summer light is warm, & winter is not.

I am getting some odd ideas about how diamond & metal come together lately (www ! ... www ...) - so your fitting pink gold with the subtle tint of a diamond interests me a great deal; will be delighted to follow this story the next year .)

Someone posted this pic in one of my threads for inspiration and I loooove how the avc looks.

@MakingTheGrade -

This is absolutely stunning. Do you have any more info for it? I'd love to know what size and color it is - as well as who set it.

It does confirm one thing tho - these warm AVCs look amazing in yellow gold! Thank you so much for sharing this; it's hugely helpful.

ETA This one looks like it's 3+ ct, so I'm not sure my size would work with this style of setting. If, tho, it's smaller than I think it is, this style could conceivably look perfect with my stone!

Hi @OboeGal :)) At the moment I'm to-ing and fro-ing re how to do the band. I think the double bezel is a lock at this point, but since @MakingTheGrade's contribution, I'm now thinking about French cut sides!!

I'm so glad you like it, @diamondseeker2006. In the back of my mind I think I'm trying to mimic your CvB ring with your warm AVC!

Thank you, @junebug17 - I think it's a stunning diamond and I feel that its color is its strong point; I love warm diamonds in warm metal colors!

@foxinsox - 'zhuzh'- love it! A little zhuzh is mandatory in jewelry!!

Hi @ac117 - and happy new year! No, I decided to get this one instead, as I really did want those big facets. The Blue Nile stone was stunning, but you just can't beat the cut of an AVC. My plan is to get another diamond through BN, but I'm not sure what at this point. Ideally, I'd have loved a large, custom cut, white, AVR. But that's never gonna happen. So I'm thinking about working my way up to a 2.5ct rb or EC, and that will happen through BN. This will be a slow process, tho.

Mamabean - I think an M in a dbty style would be gorgeous! Do you wear yellow and/or rose gold, tho? I saw a GLORIOUS 5ct M on JA once - I considered it, and it was snapped up while I was thinking about it. I'm very happy with what I have now, tho, so no harm, no foul.

I thought that right away Mrs-b! I think it would be perfect!

I’m it sure which PSer the ring belongs to. Maybe @pearaffair might know since she contributed the photo when I was looking for help.

Oh, what a gorgeous and special diamond! I'm excited to see you mention my setting. You have exquisite taste and an amazing collection.

I actually considered a pink diamond halo as my first choice of setting, until Maytal politely informed me that pink diamonds were outside my budget. In hindsight, I'm glad of that because the pink gold bezel is the perfect setting for me. I've had my ring almost five years and love it. There's nothing I would change, except for a bigger diamond. So yours would be perfect! :P2

You mentioned in your replies that you want a ring that looks feminine but is sturdy, and that's how I'd describe mine. I wear it on my right hand 24/7 (because I'm absentminded and sure to misplace it otherwise) with no problems. Here are a couple of recent glamour shots from different angles.

The rose gold wonderfully brings out the warmth and especially the pastel flashes of my AVC. I took a picture with my phone just now that pretty accurately represents the pastel color in most indoor lighting, though it's reflecting the surrounding light green color.

You also mentioned that you hope the bezel doesn't darken the stone. For my particular AVC, the setting definitely made it look bigger and brighter. Here is my AVC in the holder before being set.

And a couple more photos of the setting just because.

I know whatever setting you decide on will be amazing. I look forward to following your process!

Edit: Not sure why some of the pictures are small. I couldn't enlarge them.

Gorgeous! I can’t watch tbt see how you set her.

@pearaffair - can you pls put up a link to her instagram account here? I go to her account, and it's all photos of animals and landscapes. I KNOW her account used to be jewelry - but now I can't find it....

Ok - skip that - I found it. But when I went to her Instagram acct from her shop, it took me somewhere weird.

I’m pretty sure it was cvb! I’ll see if I can dig it up

Found it! It's a 3ct N color. Ergo - way bigger than mine. There must be elements of this, tho, that could be applied to a smaller stone. Surely...?

Thank you, @tkyasx78 - me too! :))

@rubysweettart - I completely understand; I've wanted that double bezel setting since I-dont-know-when!!

@AV_ summer light. Exactly. :kiss2:

I've always loved this stone! Congrats!!

Oooooohhhh..... I *puffy-heart-LOVE* that color in an AVC!! I can't wait to see it set!:love::love:

What a charming stone. I am crazy about Jonathan’s AVC’s and yours is something special. I think that warmth is going to look great in a rose gold double bezel and I’m siding with @MakingTheGrade on some French cut sides. Who says you can’t have it all? :D

Um, what's this "midsize"? Looks like a honker to me!
(and it is just beautiful. congrats!)

Gorgeous stone!

I love this sort of proportions for a ring - WWW - all but a band, almost, but not quite. I find them interesting on hand, with the substantial band drawing attention to the ring and the contrasting main stone.

I suspect that the style is rather British & rare in any case - these bands trump the value of just about any main stone... so I am ever wondering who does them why.

@DorotheaBrooke - thank you for those extra photos! I love it in the rose gold, but I think mostly - I love the way it looks unset! Those color undertones are just LUSH! Talk about a win/win!

Hi @iluvshinythings :wavey: Well, so far today, I've changed my mind about 50 times. Awesome, right?!! o_O Perhaps this setting will be a surprise for all of us....

Thanks, @Starfacet :)) I've had my eye on this stone for ages - mostly trying to convince myself NOT to buy it. Not a hugely successful manoeuvre, as you can see....

Thanks, @msop04! I think the combo is really delicious - the facet size and the color reeeeally complement each other!

@elle_71125 - I'd love to do french sides, but I hear cash registers going off every time I think of it....

Lol - thanks @tuckie. I wish AV offered an upgrade - I'd be maxing this guy out continually!! Not to be, tho, and I'm sure I can be happy with my stone just the way it is...(so long as the setting is absolutely perfect!!)

Thank you for removing temptation!!

Wow this stone is beautiful @mrs-b. I can’t wait to see how you set this stone and you have it on your finger.

Is this the stone you received as a gift? If so it makes this stone even more special.

Gorgeous! Love low colored antique stones. I have a Q OEC and like it very much.

Thanks, @Dancing Fire!

Hi @Calliecake :)) No - the one I received as a Christmas gift is on the first page of the 'show us what you got for Christmas' (or some title like that!) thread. It was a small soli. This one is an extra, and part of my ongoing quest to complete my yellow gold, rose gold and platinum sets. Getting closer....

@Queenie60 - you have a Q colored OEC?? Is there a thread somewhere? Can you link me to it?? A lot of people have Ms, or N's, or even Os...but Ps, Qs and Rs aren't common at all! Photos would be wonderful! ETA Skip that! I had no idea your CVB Casablanca diamond was a Q!! I just always assumed it was a light yellow! This gives me a very optimistic feeling!! Ooooohhh - fingers crossed mine will be as lovely!

Yes! It will be lovely. And my Q is set in a yellow gold basket which gives it more of a yellow color, it takes on the look of a light fancy yellow. Many think it's a yellow diamond! Bonus!!!
