My new AVC

@mrs-b Yes..I purchased it and it’s getting shipped tomorrow! I should have it on Friday! I had it shipped to FedEx so I don’t have to wait home all day. I’m very excited! I’m praying it’s eye clean to me..Of course I have to put on my reading glasses! ;)2 I also have the setting worked out with David..and he has the GIA report..so I’ll ship it to him on Tuesday if I love it. I’ll be sure to take my crummy pics..I actually have a backup cushion ready on paper should this one not work out..but I’m very hopeful! At this price point it’s a steal! It’s actually cleaner than a lot of SI1’s and VS2’s. I’m less worried about the feathers..I can upgrade it later if I want which is great because even though I would have to double the price..at 10k is doable. Thank you..thank you for posting it on RT!

It faces up very white, as it reflects back ALL the light around it! But against white paper, it's pure creamy goodness! As for whether it will pick up the pink from rose gold - I'm not sure. I'm thinking of doing this set in peach gold - half rose / half yellow. It would tone down the rose, while warming up the yellow. There's an example of different colored golds on DKJ's instagram - worth a look.

Thank you, @Octo2005 :)) I'm approaching the end of my collection and am now just filling a few gaps in the ring department before I call it a day. I still have one major diamond purchase to make, and that will probably be a Blue Nile stone that I'll upgrade continually over coming years. Much as I've loved this process, I'm glad to be almost done.

@LLJsmom - which first diamond do you mean? The BN cushion? That's the only other one I've been considering, and I actually started a thread on RT encouraging somebody to buy it, as it's such a glorious diamond. Someone did buy it - in fairly short order - tho I'm not sure if it was a PSer. In the end, tho, I didn't want to close out my collection without owning an AVC, so I took the leap. I've also never owned something markedly warm, so I wanted to give that a go as well. And besides...this one was bigger! :mrgreen:

Hi, @rainydaze - and happy new year! Yes, this stone really IS a knockout. It's changed everything I thought I knew about my own taste in jewelry, and if I could go back and do my entire collection over again, I would do things veeeeeery differently! We'll see how this turns out first, tho; hopefully it will be as beautiful as I'm dreaming!

@Wewechew - I'm going back and forth on this. The main reason I'm considering Blue Nile is that they have a larger inventory than JA, and because I might want the option to pursue different shapes (think *EC*). But I'd also love another ACA, so I'm not entirely clear on my way forward at this point.

It didn't even occur to me that you would be looking at other shapes lol. But that makes total sense :-)

Not setting it till the spring, @Mamabean. Amy and I have settled on the CADs, but my melee is currently stuck in customs. As soon as it gets out, it will be full steam ahead, but I'm trying to manage my expectations by saying it will be spring.

I’m sorry to hear that..Customs can be a real pain...It’s a good idea to think it will be spring but hopeful and think it will be out sooner than you think...Fingers crossed!

I once had jewelry stuck in customs about a week..My tracking never progressed in all that time..and never moved..Then I got notice it moved out of customs and it sat wherever for a few more days..before it actually started making its way to me..Has your package been delayed longer than that?
 
No - it only arrived on Monday. However, I had to give customs my social security number, and it was 'voided'. I have no idea what that means. I've now had to give the agent handling it a copy of my SS card, a copy of the front page of my tax return, and power of attorney so they can liaise with customs on my behalf. Once a SS card (or a customs request in general) has been voided for whatever reason, it's not reactivated for a week. And apparently there is currently a huge backlog.

This is a pain in the neck.

Omg...That’s horrible...I never heard of having to go through all of that to proceed through customs...:eek-2: It will all be worth it when you have that gorgeous cushion on your finger...

I’m also waiting for my diamond cluster ring from England AND things from David..Of course I have to bring my mom to the eye doctor so I may miss them! :boohoo:
 
They're here and they're perfect. Thank you, @diagem - gorgeous workmanship.

Shipping them off to DKJ tomorrow to be made into a ring. Pictures in a few weeks when it's done. :bigsmile:
