I received my rubellite ring earlier today. It is so pretty! The center stone is a old Nigerian 6.46ct rubellite cut by J White. Here is the earlier thread on the stone:
For the setting, I went with the 18K yellow gold split-shank trellis setting by Daniel M. Dan was great with details and the ring came out super nice. Communication was great, too. And the most impressive part is the short turn-around time (about 2 weeks including shipping both ways).
I tried to capture the true color of the stone but that proved difficult. The true color under direct sunlight has more rich magenta color, and it is not as dark as these photos suggest. It is bright and charming under the sun. It performs worse under certain light conditions indoors, but I guess that's typical with rubellites.
Jeff White rubellite
Super excited about this big red rubellite that I got from Jeff White! Excellent cut no doubt. The color is predominantly red with flashes of magenta. It has been cloudy and rainy for days here so I haven't had a chance to take it outside. But I am confident that the stone will look great under...
