Any potential purchases Crimson or you do your buying in Singapore?

Too bad you aren’t in Singapore. So many nice blings at the local show.

Possibly the nicest sapphire I’ve ever seen. 7 digit price tag for those curious.

Just to show how nice it is. I mean the other sapphires are also nice, but the Kashmir just makes all the other blue sapphires look bad.

Good question, @mellowyellowgirl, I do some homework before buying, and I haven’t seen anything I particularly want yet. However, I haven’t been looking in earnest, only just browsing. I went to the Gem-A of GB Open house and a GIA in London event. The Gem-A event was great fun. They opened the gem library and let us look at any stone we liked under their microscopes.
Next week I will go to Bond Street and Royal Exchange so maybe there will be temptations there!

Be still, my heart!

Do you know what this reminds of? Acinom's sapphire.

Thanks, I had a look at their website. They are based in Tokyo.
Their sapphire reminds me of the one from Vihari at Paragon.

Haha, @Pomelo and @mellowyellowgirl you are both too kind, I do muss having Minerva around to compare with all these emeralds I am seeing.
Went to Kensington Palace for the Crown to Couture exhibition. These are Queen Victoria’s emeralds. The tiara is glorious!

Yes, I am lucky to see all these jewels. Being a gem lover and PS member has given my travels more depth and thematic experiences :)
Sending you some flowers from London, and a bouquet of gems collected by Arthur Charles Davy Paine (for whom painite was named.

This tiara is magnificent. I had the pleasure of seeing it at Sothebys during the Queen’s platinum jubilee celebrations. The juicy emerald cabs had me drooling.

If I may share fun facts with the PS crowd: this tiara has historical significance - designed by Prince Albert for Queen Victoria, it was made in 1845 by Joseph Kitching for a princely sum of £1,150 (£180k in today’s terms).

As we’re all jewellery nerds and love the stats, feast your eyes on this (from the Sothebys website):

Designed as a tapered openwork band of scroll motifs set with cushion-shaped diamonds and decorated with step-cut emeralds in gold collets, surmounted by a graduated row of nineteen inverted pear-shaped emerald drops weighing (from the centre) approximately 15ct, 12ct, 12ct, 8ct, 8ct, 6ct, 6ct, 5ct, 5ct, 4ct, 4ct, 3.5ct, 3.5ct, 2.5ct, 2.5ct, 2ct, 2ct, 1.75ct, 1.75ct respectively, inner length approximately 455mm.

Thank you, @Pomelo for sharing these interesting details! The exhibition must have been a jaw-dropping experience.
Adding a few more photos. The tiara and parure were displayed alongside a modern piece from Garrard.

Beautiful thread @Crimson!
London is a perfect city for seeing heavenly jewellery and gemstones. I fall in love with everything when I’m there.
The photos you are posting are gorgeous, thank you!

Thank you, Brigid! So kind of you. Here are a few more photos,

I am so happy to be back home and reunited with Minerva.
I had a fabulous time in the UK and US, but I missed being able to wear my jewellery. It was like a jewellery fast - thank goodness for the London jewellers and museums who offered vicarious enjoyment!

Not at all, dear @mellowyellowgirl. Glad you like the site. Yes, that is a showstopper, isn’t it? I admit I viewed it a few times:kiss2::P2 It matches my new jellybean earrings. I shall have to stop thinking about it.
Minerva is almost a year old! What is better than one Minerva? Two. If only…IMG_2669.jpeg

The last few weeks I have been jewellery shopping with friends. Here are some of the pieces we looked at. Below is a beautiful brooch that I almost bought. What do you think of it? When I first saw it, it was presented to me sideways. I thought it was such a strange design then I realized, rotating it, that it was a phoenix. It’s a substantial piece.. The round diamond in the center is 1.5 carats and the smaller pairs at the bottom add up to over 1.6 carats. IMG_2766.png

Lately, I’ve become quite interested in glassy, adularescent jadeite. So I looked at this ring. Isn’t it cute? The jadeites are fat and full. Unfortunately, the ring doesn’t look good on me. I look pretty washed out wearing it. The jeweller suggested that for me to wear it, I would have to get a vividly colored manicure.

IMG_2767.jpegIMG_2768.jpeg

Here’s another pretty glassy jadeite ring. It has a couple of Japanese cranes on the shoulders. Again, it didn’t look good on me, but I’m so glad my friend bought it.
IMG_2774.png
This pair of earrings is stunning.
The large jadeites have a bluish glow.
IMG_2773.jpeg

My friend bought this ring, made of black rhodium and diamonds. It has a nice antique look.IMG_2770.jpeg

Finally, here’s a cute 2 carat ruby. We didn’t buy it because the setting looks a bit strange, but the red is really saturated and it glows.IMG_2769.jpeg

The jewelry adventures of MinReva, and friends will continue on Saturday.

One last foray before the year ends!
Is this too big? Lavender jadeite with pink sapphires.

IMG_2783.jpeg
Finally decided to go for something different.
This “art as jewelry” pendant depicts the palace of the immortals in a sea of clouds.
The door is made of diamonds!=)2:mrgreen2: , the fruits annd flowers are diamonds and rubies, the trees are jadeite and the clouds on the mountain are glassy jadeite with bright green “floating flowers “.
The jewellery store MD and owner explained the meaning of this piece to me. I think it is an auspicious and happy piece for the new year. It also, makes me think,of fairy tales, or of the film, Castle in the Sky. I can comfortably wear this green piece with Minerva.
Happy New Year!

Thanks, @elle_71125 :) I shall post more adventures!

So glad you like the photos, @mellowyellowgirl.

Here is a Battle of the Emeralds pic, just for fun!
The emeralds are all Colombian with GRS reports but only Minerva has the Old Mine, Muzo Green appendix.
