We were searching for rings together but he decided that he wanted to pick the setting himself. He wanted to buy a setting that screamed “M’s ring” when he saw it. But he wanted the diamond search to be a mutual thing. So I showed him a bunch of stones I found online and that night (sometime last week) he said that he doesn’t feel comfortable purchasing online. He doesn’t like the idea and that’s ok with me. He wanted to compromise: let’s check out Seybold in Miami (2nd largest jewelry exchange in US), if we couldn’t find anything then he would get a stone we saw online. I agreed.
So we go to Seybold just to do a search. The plan was to go in and out of stores looking at stones and checking out prices. Naturally the salesperson we worked with at Freddy’s (Sam is his name) is having us try the diamond on with a setting. My boyfriend picked one out himself and they placed the diamond in the setting. The head of the ring was made to fit the size of the diamond I had selected (.75) and it fit perfectly. I tried it on and it was my size. I started crying like a total cheeseball. It was my ring. And just as I was thinking that out of nowhere, he says “that’s her ring, it’s perfect” and he purchased!!! It’s hidden in the house somewhere and he did a really good job of hiding it…I haven’t been able to find it, not that I’ve been looking
And the greatest part is we came $80.86 under budget (LOL). He had given me the down payment for my car when my Chevy died. I didn’t have the money for a new car (or an old car for that matter, I just started working after school) so he got one for me. I knew that took money out of his savings. He told me his budget and said he was willing to add a few thousand if need be. But it was important for me to make sure that we didn’t go a penny over. So here’s my little beauty that I adore that is hidden somewhere in the house…all for under $4,000. The appraisal came in at $7,000…that’s why I love Seybold.
