I think we''ve found our radiant! What do you guys think?

Blurry but sparkly....

Ok, here are the specs. I know that it doesn''t really fit the "ideal" measures are for a radiant but it''s the best one we''ve seen (after seeing many duds)!

1.51 carat
Color: F
Clarity: VS2
6.41 x 5.98 x 4.39
Depth: 73.4%
Table: 67%
Girdle: Thick to V. thick
Culet: none
Polish/Symm: good/good
Fluorescence: none

Ok, one more (in different lighting)......

Wow, it''s so sparkly! I don''t know anything about diamond facts and figures, but I love it!

THAT is a beauty!!! Congrats on your good find.

WOW! That is just one big ball of sparkle!!!

That is a VERY pretty stone. :)

very pretty, sparkly stone fuzzy!

do you know what kind of setting you''d like to put that beauty in?

Yeah, I''m still trying to decide on a setting. I''ve seen so many that I really like but it''s soooo hard. My bf says that it''ll look pretty even if we use a rubber band

I''m definitely leaning towards a more delicate setting (either Michael B or Ritani-like ones) because I have small fingers (ring size 3.75!!).

Any other setting ideas for my sparkly?????

Beautiful radiant!! And it looks HUGE on your hand!! Congratulations on your find! I think that you should definitely trust your eyes rather than numbers or specs on this. I have no idea about radiant specs, but if you love it, then you love it, and numbers shouldn''t matter!

I am a big fan of the rubber setting, although I know someone who can custom make a chewing gum setting for cheap-cheap-cheap!!

It looks nice, but for it''s 1.5 cts it could have been a tad bigger. It is not possible to tell from the extremely nice pictures how this ranks for brilliance. As they say... almost any diamond looks nice on it''s own. You have seen this side by side with lots of duds, perhaps each of those would have looked great in picture as well.

If you do not mind the size, the rest is history.

Otherwise,

There is THIS and THIS (both larger for about the same weight) and THIS (size close to yours, tops cut and well below 1.5cts).
The last one comes with a picture as well:

wow that''s a beautiful stone. I''m sure it will look totally fab whatever setting you choose. Can''t wait to see what it''s like when finished

And Jonathan has a candidate as well... THIS : worth a click

Thanks everyone!

Ana - Thanks for posting the other stones. Yes, i do agree that it is not quite as "big" as a 1.5 should be but in the end it was the great price that got us (we got it for $9300). And the fact that it had all the aspects we wanted (e.g. very white, sparkly, square not rectangular). It seemed like such a deal that we couldn''t consider any other stones after that.

Now, I''ve just got to pick a setting!! It''s gonna be while because I just can''t make up my mind.....

I hope that was not too annoying. And you are right to say the price is fine for 1.5cts. So is $8200 for the size though...just to be a pest ''till the end. Too bad these databases lets one "optimize" to death and beyond. Allot of the glitter and glam passes by in the process.

Anyway: every fine square rad is a find. And yours is very square, and very fine. Not to mention what an awesome project the ring makes

Fingers crossed until it is done and posted!

Looks like you''ve gotten a real winner there--no small feat with radiants either!

Can''t wait to see the finished ring--I adore the crushed ice look of radiants. I love my Ideal RB but would have loved a radiant also. They are so different.
