Hi everyone. I've been lurking PS for a few years and finally took the plunge on a stone from Finewater last week! Exciting.

The description:
Searching through my gem box I found this red-orange Burmese spinel from one of my trips several years ago. Big and clean and an excellent price. This one will be a bargain for someone that's paying attention!
2.78 ct, 8.0 x 7.0 x 6.1mm, VVS clarity

This stone is quite shifty and my camera skills are quite poor, but I tried. :)

There is a light scratch -- should I have the stone repolished?

Oh, I like it. Seems to shift between pinkish, brownish, orangey. Beautiful. Reminded me of this diamond, though it costs about 35k more than your spinel, and is way smaller.

I saw that on his site- glad you bought it and love it! Love the way the color shifts. BTW- Is that a surface scratch on the stone, or just a piece of hair or cotton fiber?

Did you scratch it? If so find somebody to re-polish it. If it arrived like that I'd be contacting the seller.

Is it an inclusions (yes, I know it is stated as VVS but many of us tend to be more eagle eyed than most vendors) or is it really a scratch? If it is a scratch, did it arrive like that?

If it is a scratch and arrived like that, I would contact Gary to let him know. He will advise you accordingly.
If it is a very small scratch and was done after arrival, I would not have it repolished.

You could see the scratch in the pictures (from the listing), so I'm sure it didn't arrive like that.

ETA: I'm so glad you received it and posted your own pictures. It definitely deserves a great home. So happy for you! Any setting ideas? :naughty:
