I think I found an old Chinese lady selling really valuable rings on the internet. Lucky me.
And free shipping too. How amazing is that!
It’s a pink sapphire and those white stones are definitely diamonds, it’s set in silver but I’m sure I can ask Leon to make me the same style in Platinum.
Do you think $2.38 is too much?
Maybe I should bargain her down some more.

hmm, I think 2.88 is too steep. Maybe see if you can get it down to 1.98. And make sure to have it appraised to be *100% sure* that all parts of the ring are super-duper real and REALLY valuable.

You guys have some skilled bargain hunting! I cant find a better deal than 2$ I have never been as lucky as you all are!! Now my lady does take offers, so the price isnt firm , and sadly she is located out of the US, but she will make this beautiful one for me in any size I need!
And if I need it in 14k she can make one in 14k for me. Sterling can bend easily for me so if I get this one , I may need to do it in a harder metal like gold.

Do you think if I do the plated version in ss it would bend with wearing? I am quite tough on my rings. She does make them at the time of ordering So she might make the 3 split band thicker if i request...

I am happy to be one of the first to congratulate or celebrate with someone who makes an excellent buy. I’m an old fashioned bargain hunting gal because believe me in my early days I barely had $10 in my wallet and that was on payday!
But I do object to people who “string others along”. Those who are making it up as they go along.
Many of us here are experienced shoppers and jewellery buyers / owners, while others come here seeking to tap into out vast collective knowledge and contacts. And that’s how it should be.
When a thread starts “I have a 35 carat Russian Alexandrite” or “I have a 3,000 carat Blue Diamond” (amongst other similiar posts) we remain polite and gently point out the facts of the matter. No one gets banned for asking ridulous (to us with experience and knowledge) questions and no one should be banned for a civil reply.
Some posts however, should be treated with the contempt they deserve if their only purpose is to stir the hornets nest, “Big note” oneself and/or make a mockery out of others when they, in good faith, mistakenly provide a validating response.
Nah, go with the $2.38 one, looks heaps fancier and better.
Even if the sterling silver only lasts you a year, you can buy another 41 for the same price and slowly work your way through them!

I was unaware of the situtation that had happened here in the colored gems forum until I had read those threads. I am glad they were not deleted so there was a record of what happened.

Bron, it's normal that you feel really angry by what happened. I'm sure most people would be.

When you first offered your sapphire to the poster, I immediately thought what a kind and incredibly generous gesture you had made. This reflects on you.

Even though we've never met, I feel that you are a genuinely a good person. I don't think that you look like a fool.

Had the OP been honest, what a wonderful outcome your offer would have led to!

I have just caught up on all these dramatic threads it struck me at the point you were moved to help out a stranger on the internet that her story was sympathetic. You don't look foolish, you look like someone with a big heart.

It seemed to get messy quickly from there and I'm glad for you actually. Let's assume she had no bad intentions and just got in over her head. I get the impulse to vent but she's doing a good job of creating a bad impression via her own posts. A smarter person would have just taken your help and quit while they were ahead and you would have never known it wasn't what you thought.

I hope you treat yourself to a wonderful setting for your yellow stone, or use it to help your favorite charity, or do anything else with it that brings you joy.

Mmm, I would actually consider to close this thread @Bron357 . You have your stone back luckily and there is no need to further stir the pot? It does not make PS more attractive in my opinion.

People have the freedom to write what they want as long if it’s not hurting anyone. Even if there is some fantasy involved (willingly or unwillingly).
We also have the freedom to ignore posts and just not react on posts.

I understand that you are upset. And rightly so. But you are such a kindhearted person and I am sure it does not give you energy to create a thread like this...
