Just for spits and giggles I emailed the company that has the ring I want to ask them a couple of questions about it and their reply was that it''s no longer available. I haven''t seen anything similar anywhere, and I''ve been looking for months. I had even told my boyfriend that that''s the one I want. That one specifically. What do I do now?

Custom? Sorry, that''s no fun.

That definitely sucks! Do you have a picture of it? Most things could be created by a good custom jeweler (and for the same price as the original).

What's the info on it? Brand/materials/style etc. Perhaps we can help find it, or a very close match? If all else fails, you can go custom. That's what I did after 2 years of trying to find my "dream ring" I realized it didn't exist unless I paid someone else to make it for me

What retailers in your area carries items by this designer? Although a long shot, perhaps they have a sample setting in the stone dimensions that you need. If so, the ring is easy enough for the jeweler to resize for your finger size.

Jewelz & Collee have great ideas on this. The ladies here at PS are amazing at finding all things jewelry related. With them on the hunt, you''re bound to be happy with the results!

Post a picture. One of us may recognize the setting and be able to give you a lead where else to find it.

Thanks so much for your help everyone. Here are some pics of the ring (I had originally found it at antiquejewelrymall.com). This weekend we discussed having a custom one made, but neither he nor I have any experience with doing that so we don''t really know what we''re doing.

Something like this? It's currently in stock from antique jewelry mall... I found a few more very similar rings, I'll post pics in a bit.

If you're not willing to compromise on design, your best bet (without searching for months online) is to find a reputable designer. Bring the printed picture of your dream ring, and ask them to draw up a custom sketch for you. You don't have to know what you're doing, just what you want! Do a little homework and see if you can find a jeweler you'd like to "interview" and see if it can be done. They might suggest a few small modifications depending on how you will be wearing the ring for daily use, and they can make you just a setting or help pick a stone. You can be as involved in the process as you want!

I''d also take a look at the Gordon Clark settings. There are many vendors here on PS and I''m sure we''re not the only ones who deal with them. They''re relatively inexpensive, and very pretty.

Here is something I found that may be sort of what you are after.

Thanks for the help, Everyone! After tons and tons and tons of research it looks like Whiteflash will be able to make something similar for me, just waiting on the final word about if it will be in our budget. We need to provide our own stone though since I don''t want a diamond. So that''s the next step (and even more research!).

Now, how do I share all of this with my bf while making it seem like it was his doing?

He did say over the weekend that he wanted to get the ring process rolling...do you think he has any idea how literally I took that?

How fun! What kind of stone do you want? I'm guessing colored stone? Have you wandered over to the Colored Stones area yet? We'd be happy to help you look

ETA: Just saw that you have a thread in CS - I'll mosey over there

Brown.Eyed.Girl - I think I''m going to go with a light pink sapphire (you''re right, I do have a thread in CS). Bad news though, just heard from Whiteflash and the cost to custom make my ring is 150% of our budget. Sad Panda.

I guess I''ll keep looking, but maybe it just can''t be done.
