my surprise shower!

I went into work yesterday and my staff had a shower/going away party for me. I move to LA next week and it was so thoughtful. They had a tiara with veil, they all put in money (well over a$100!) and the most beautiful cake ever, I had to post pictures of it! I had no idea they were going to do anything. It is always overwhelming when peoples kindness surprises you!

Thanks ladies. I am very lucky. I manage a very busy restaurant and have such an amazing staff. I hope we can hire half as good in LA! I was a tad but hung over from a going away party the night before, an yes, I did cry!

The cake was an actual wedding cake from cake girls in Chicago (http://www.thecakegirls.com/). My boss wanted red velvet (just like my wedding cake) but they need 2 weeks in advance for that. However, my Fiance wanted banana cake at the wedding and since he isnt getting it it was banana cake with layers of banana custard and bavarian cream. It truly was heavenly!

I am so excited about my move and cant wait to meet you LA girls. It is supposed to be 20 degrees this weekend when we move, but it will be well worth it when we arrive in LA!!!!

We've got a heatwave going on here! It was 85 at the beach this weekend. I actually got a slight sunburn walking on the strand in Hermosa!

It's supposed to cool down in a few days, but it should still be nice. At least you missed last year, and the record rainfall we had. YUK!

p.s- the cake sounds like it was YUMMY!
