Yes, it''s true, I am engaged!!
It happened on Wednesday night, the night before Thanksgiving. We had made plans to go to dinner and then have drinks at a cool new hotel downtown. So we got dressed up, and went to dinner. Dinner was amazing, great food, great wine, etc.
Then we headed over to the hotel bar that I''ve been dying to check out. It was built in the 20''s, and was recently restored after having sat vacant for years and years. I am totally interested in Detroit history, redevelopment and architecture, so checking this new hotel out was a big deal for me! After we sat down to order a drink, he told me the concierge said we could have a tour! Cool! So we finished our drinks and went up to the desk. A woman brought us up to the "first stop on the tour" which was one of their suites. She opened the door to the room and then said she needed to run back down to get some keys.
So I walk into the room, and COMPLETELY MISS the James Allen ring box open propped up on the edge of the bed. I am wandering in the bathroom, checking out the cool countertops, the nice cherry wood desk, etc. FI is DYING standing there waiting for me to notice it. I finally see it, then realize there is champagne chilling on the dresser with glasses. I start crying, turn around, he gets down on one knee, says some great things that I can''t remember, asks me to marry him, and I say YES! I was crying and laughing all at the same time, it was amazing!
So we spent the night at the hotel, drank way too much champagne, ordered great room service breakfast the next morning, then packed and went to our hometown for Thanksgiving. We celebrated and toasted with family all weekend, and now I am finally here updating my PSers!
Thanks so much for all of your love and support during my LIW time (only five months!). I will see you all soon in BWW!
Oh, I almost forgot, he had this all planned, but the ring didn''t arrive till WEDNESDAY AT 10:30 AM!! He was totally panicking, but it came just in time, and all was good.
I know all you want to see is pics, so....I have never posted pics before, but I will try!
