prepared too get socked again by the weather?
Freezing rain all ready here in the Rockford area.
Be careful if you have too go anywhere tomorrow!! Its going to be icy!

Ha!! Glad I moved just in time!!!!

Ugh. Don''t remind me. Last thing we need is more snow!

My parents live in Milwaukee so I hear all the updates. Even they are getting hit hard. My mom was two days delayed for our AZ weekend last week b/c they closed the airport. At least the school aged kids are having fun with these snow days!

To bad they will be making it up at the end of the year. Wisconsin schools have 4 days built into the year just for snow days, they have had quite a few and now they will have to go to school longer in June to make up for it.

Ughhhhh, have you guys already gotten hit? We''re supposed to get the freezing rain tonight around 11 (Eastern IA) - today the whole city was craaazy with people trying to get out, run errands, and enjoy the awesome weather (I went out in a sweatshirt today - it was SO NICE!) before the storm.

Seriously, is this the winter of no end? It was fun in December, but now I''m REALLY sick of the snow/sleet/ice - especially the ice. Apparently, our city got salt in from Canada or somewhere this week, though! The last snow with no salt for the roads was pretty brutal.

Oooh, speaking of icy roads - has anyone ever busted out their skates to go ice skating on their street? If this ice storm is as bad as everyone says, I think I might have to try it!

~*Alexis*~, I think my mom''s school (she is a teacher) has only had two so far (though I could be wrong). Kids don''t usually think that far ahead anyways. Here in NC there was a snow day (they panic with a few inches) and there are NO built in days. Oh well, still fun. I loved those days when the phone rang really early (my high school had a phone tree system) and my mom would come into my room and tell me there was no school. Seriously, that was ALWAYS exciting!

No problem here.... and I am susposed to work tomorrow.

I doug out my crampons and ice axe if things really get bad (just immagine me with a backpack in the mountains with them... admitedely a long time ago). The snowshoes see more use (but even they haven''t been used for a half dozen years).

My one concern is that the city has not yet finished cleaning up the snow from the Thursday snow... They plow to the center of the street - and then clean up the center mound with huge snowblowers and dump trucks. As of today they only had half the town cleaned up (the south half) and we are still working with restricted streets where I live. Things will get interesting if we get as much or more snow. There is not room in the center of the streets for much more where I live. But, I am sure I will be able to get arround (as long as I can get out of the alley with my car).

Ya all enjoy it.... I intend to.

The weather outside is delightfull.... let it snow, let it snow, let it snow....

Isn''t it great that we are having a real winter again. Now if I only had a small cabin in the woods.... how peacefull it could be.

We''re not supposed to get much activity down here, just a couple inches later tonight and tomorrow...but I really, really hope this crazy winter weather is over soon! Our local paper just reported that the village is running out of salt because they didn''t anticipate this winter being so nuts. Hope all of you farther north don''t get hit too hard...be careful and stay warm!

just rain so far biggest problem is flooding and water over ice.
Even areas that don't normally flood have standing water.

Well no snow yet but the ice is 3 inches thick on the road out front and a ton of accidents this morning.

I saw absolutely no reason to rush to work this morning. So I went back to bed and slept some more.

I''ll head in shortly for a few hours. The roads are in much better shape now than earlier.

Sometimes you just have to pace yourself.

This is interesting...

About 1/2 hour after getting to work (and I did not get to work until after 3:00 PM) - the city declares a Civil Emergency due to road conditions.... (and the roads this afternoon are much better than they were this morning)

We are to restrict driving on city streets unless absolutely necessary - for the next day or two.

Snow is currently falling and at lot more is expected tonight.

I have been told that the city has never declared such an emergency in the last 20+ years.

I wonder... Is voting in tomorrow''s Presidential Primary considered absolutely necessary?

WOW Perry.. What N.IL or WI city was that in?

road out front claimed one transmission tonight so far.
3 inches of ice on the road with 8-10 inch ridges.
Catch a tire over one of the ridges and your done.

Guy trying to get unstuck after sliding over the ridge the snow plow left and blew out the transmission from spinning the tires too much.

I expect it wont be the last.

They are about out of salt and using it on the main roads only so there is no relief in sight.

Two Rivers.... Wisconsin.

I am beginning to wonder if the City has run out of money to plow snow.

They stopped cleaning up the snow from last Thursday''s snow on Friday afternoon; and did nothing Sat, Sunday, or today (Monday). They got half the city cleaned up on Friday - and normally would have gotten the other half on Saturday.

As mentioned above; the City plows the snow to the center of the street - and then cleans up the piles with large snowblowers to dump trucks - and hauls the snow away.

The street in front of my house - and the main street (a state highway) that my alley goes to still have the piles in the center of the street. This means that you can only turn right onto it from a driveway - and must find a cleared intersection to turn arround the other direction.

There have been two smaller snows since Thursday - and the city plowed that to the either the side (unusual) of the streets that had been cleared or to the center where there were piles already in the center (like my street).

There is probably 3" of new snow so far and more on its way tonight.

This will be interesting.

But, I have to wonder if they have run out of money to clean up the snow piles in the center of the street and they will stay there until they melt.

It will be interesting I am sure...

Oh, and I will vote tomorrow - and go to work too.

another car caught on the ridge and this time another car that slid around the corner hit it!
Wish I had a webcam I could sell tickets.

Ahhh... you or your freinds must have visited.

Yes, to the locals its - Trivers...

On the map and at the post office its - Two Rivers.

Oh, I know all about cheese curds. I grew up about 125 miles from here in the middle of the dairy belt - in a small city (two towns with imaginary boundry lines); with many of my clasemates as dairy farmers.

Cheese curds are best when they squeek when you bit them (which occurs when they are less than 24 hours old).

Unfortunately, I am now allergic to dairy products. I used to drink lots of milk and eat lots of cheese.

Have a great day.

Perry

ps: They cleaned up the street today - and I voted too (see my WI Primary thread in ATW).

A BRINKS truck in the ditch....that''s something you don''t see everyday!! Don''t know if they pulled off, or slid off, but either way, DANG!

I grew up in Prairie du Sac. After 5 years in the Navy I went to college in Madison. I have lived in most sections of the state except the far north.

I agree that the beaches are pretty.

Us wisconsinites need to stick together.
