Hi all,

I''m sure we''ve all heard the stories of people who booked airplane tickets under their married name, and then tried to fly under their maiden name for the honeymoon, and experienced trouble with security or ticketing.

My question is regarding rail travel. Do these same concerns apply? I booked a train ticket back in June for a trip for work that will take place in August. Of course, in June I planned everything (including hotel reservations, train tickets, etc.) under my maiden name.

In July, I got married. Now, while I haven''t gotten started on the name change process yet, I do plan on getting started on that in the next week or two. Will the tickets-in-maiden-name and ID-in-married-name be an issue for Amtrak? Any ladies have experience here? I also emailed Amtrak and am waiting for the official reply.

I do plan on bringing a copy of my marriage license with me to (hopefully) head off any problems, but am still concerned. If it sounds like a terrible hassle, I could wait until late August to begin the name change process.

Thanks for your help!

I don''t think that Amtrak will give you any trouble if you bring your marriage documents along. However, it will be helpful to get the official response from them.

We booked my plane ticket for the honeymoon in my married name but due to some issues with the marriage license, I couldn''t start changing my name until we got back from the honeymoon. I just brought the marriage license along and they were fine with it. We flew on 5 different airplanes to and from our honeymoon and there was no issue. I would think a train would be even more lenient than an airplane so I think that if you just bring your marriage license along it should be fine. I''d call Amtrak just to be sure though.

My FFIL/FMIL gave us two first class round trip tickets anywhere American Airlines flies and 1,000,000 miles and they put my married name on all the AA paperwork.

We aren''t planning on using them until after the wedding (we aren''t taking our honeymoon right away), and I initially thought to correct them, but then I realized that if anything happens in the next three weeks and I don''t marry FI, they don''t intend for me to have those miles!!!!!!!!Hahaha!!!!!
