Pieces I got from my mom and nana - in need of TLC (and my little promise ring

). Strictly sentimental value, but isn''t that big "diamond" a hoot? I think it''s Victorian paste or rock crystal from England... the foil backing has all chipped off. What IS that big, scary marquise? Citrine? Topaz? The aqua is all scuffed up and the multi with opals is missing a teensy diamond. I have photos of my mom wearing it in the 1950s.

I only wear the promise ring...

Paste is ... glass. The "diamonds" your Nana let you wear when you played dress up!

Ooohhh it's very glittery - unmounted, it looks a lot like my avatar. I'm sure it was the "best" paste they could afford at the time - WWII London... things were tight, to say the least! I like to fantasize that it's... you know real - and she just forgot to tell me.

Wait a minute... That's IT! That's why it's set in silver - so the Nazis would never suspect! OMG. I have a huge, real diamond!
