I need a new bag that I can lug all my stuff around with me...notebooks, writing pads, texts, and perhaps my laptop. What do you all think of these three?

I like 1, 3 and 4 - number 1 is my favourite. Looks classy and businesslike. I have a terrible time finding bags I like, same with shoes. What wouldn''t I give for a Kelly!!

I hope one of these is not the elusive Paddington bag ;-). Apparently women are in tears over its lack of availability.

"'For some women, finding the right bag is as important as oxygen,' he said. Like other retailers interviewed, Mr. Mahler fielded hundreds of calls last season for the increasingly elusive Paddington bag, a pliant , hardware-embellished satchel made by Chloé .'It was cuckoo,' he recalled. 'We had people weeping on the phone, pleading: "This is really important to me. Isn't there something you can do?" '"

(I wrote about that in this thread.)

Wow Deb, I love handbags but I begrudge spending a huge amount on them. Maybe I will have a Kelly in another life, it would be wasted round here anyway as I doubt anyone would know what it is! It is strange to imagine women getting so upset about the lack of availability and feeling so bad about it. I love my current bag so much, it is 6 years old and the clasp has broken, but I am such a slob and don''t want to part with it that I use it anyway! I think if I was ever lucky enough to get a Kelly that I would be too scared to use it

I do not know what the Kelly or Paddington bags are...I remember Paddington Bear books...I guess I am out of it.

Deb, I cannot read the article...

. Is it worth it to get a login?

Kelly bags are the gorgeous Hermes ones which cost an arm and a leg! They got their name through Grace Kelly when she was expecting her first child, she shielded her bump with a Hermes bag. I don''t know about the Paddington ones.

Gotcha! What do they look like?

They are largish square bags with a small handle and so elegant!! Rather plain to look at, yet I drool each time!!!! They have a to die for vintage one on Ebay at the moment, a mere snip at about $10k

Now, Matatora, you know me very well by now. Would I ever tell anyone it was not worth it to fill out a few lines in order to have free access to, "The New York Times" on-line? You must not have had your coffee yet!

Deb :-)

We can get it on campus without the login so I have never bothered. I know, I know, I ought to be shot. I dont know why I worry about people tracking what I read. They would likely find it very boring....I need Diet Coke to fortify my brain I never made it to bed last night.

We are kindred spirits. I had three hours sleep!

Here is a link so that you can at least see the Chloé bags, even if you cannot (yet) read the article!

1000$ for a purse? Hell it does not even look practical.

You have to read the article, Matatora. Really!

I LIKE #2, #4, and #5, but I think #1, #3, and #5 are the most practical for business purposes. #2 looks too slouchy and unstructured, y''know?

My votes would be for #1 or #5, they look structured, sturdy, professional, with good handle placement. Personal experience says handle placement like #4 digs into your shoulder like you wouldn''t BELIEVE.

I like #4 and #5.
I just went to Franklin Covey and saw a bunch of cute bags! Sorry I'm a big Franklin Covey Dork!

For the last three years I have been carrying a deep red one from Kenneth Cole. I bought it at an outlet just before coming to AL. It has help up really well, it actually still looks brand new IMO. The thing is though that the color is not practical. It often does not match what I am wearing, or looks flashy. I figured black is clean and simple and even if I am wearing neutrals I can still get away with carrying a black bag. I saw one that I loved in a television ad for TNTs The Closer. The main girl has a great work bag....but I cannot figure out who makes it. And while I like all of the bags I have found so far the only thing that has bothered me about the Keneth Cole bag is the whole double rolled strap thing. I dont like it when one straps slips/ I would love it if I could finda bag witha single handles that was not like the ones I use for my duffle. I am soo picky though, and I dont want to spend a ton.

Matatora,
I was with my daughter shopping at JCrew the other day and they had a nice bag in black very similar to the ones you posted. I wish I had checked the price, but don''t think it was too expensive. HTH

What do you think of this one?

I vote for #4!

Little update, I have now seen all of these in person... and some are definately out because I could not keep them on my sholder. I have narrowed it down a bit more. I am thinking either the first or last...which ever my laptop will fit into, they both stayed put nicely and were easy to get in and out of. I still love three but I think it may not transistion well from school to work to play and is a bit trendy.

I got the Coach Bag...It is perfect for my needs! And of course it is lovely and well made, and this style is not so trendy that it will be out in a year.

I love the first one! Where is that from?

LOL Matatora I have the Coach bag in that style but with the signature Cs in brown. I just adore it and get tons of compliments! Enjoy your new bag
