LOL! Thanks Julie, I did indeed mean the first one in the thread!Date: 1/6/2009 4:07:21 PM

She means the first one in this thread. I agree, that''s the nicest of the 4.
No, it will be plenty white. Get that diamond reserved if you are going to want to buy it to prevent it being nabbed!Date: 1/6/2009 4:15:51 PM

Wow, each and every vote has gone with the first one. 1196839
To be honest, that is the one I have liked the most all along. It''s a G, VVS2. It''s got a ratio of 1.01, almost perfectly square!
The ring I set it in will either be white gold or plat. With a G, will any yellow show in the stone with these settings? I know some people like their stones to have some color, but I would prefer mine to have none to very little. And by mine I mean the one I''m going to offer my GF when I pop the question. Ultimately it will be her ring.

I think the G looks great and if Josh agrees, so much the better as he has a very experienced eye by all accounts!
The settings should be fine for sidestone colour whichever way you go, just personal preference as to which you choose. I think the second would look fine with a Princess if that is what you want.
The listing shows that the sidestones will be in the F-G range in color. I think you aswered my question but the wording is just confusing me a little. I just want to be sure that F sidestones will not cause a problem for a G centerstone. Sorry if I''m asking you to be redundant.
Sorry - my fault, I wasn't clear! With the first setting the sidestones are F/G colour, the second G/H. It is recommended to keep the centre and sidestones within 2 colour grades so as your G centre stone is in the middle of either range, you could choose either setting without fear of a contrast. Clarify with Josh just to make sure but this is probably what he will say also if I am remembering correctly.Date: 1/7/2009 2:59:39 PM

Ok guys, I think we have a contender.

How does this diamond look? Is it worth the jump in price vs that 'G' (or first diamond I posted) we have all fallen in love with?
Are these guys a reputable vendor?
Thanks in advance!!
Ok, check carefully with Jon at GOG that the SI is eyeclean to your standards, if it isn''t then that settles the question!Date: 1/8/2009 2:37:45 PM

ahhhh, it''s so hard to decide!
The one from GOG is great but so is the one from JA. I''m really torn. I suppose what is going to be the biggest deciding factor for me is whether or not paying the extra $700 for the one from GOG is worth the much lower clarity for the upgrade in color. Not to mention that removes $700 from my ring budget and pretty much leaves me with a solotaire setting as my only optioin with a possible future upgrade of the setting.
Does GOG negotiate on their listed prices?
What sets and AGS0 apart from a standard AGS graded diamond?Date: 1/8/2009 2:38:11 PM

Of the JA stones, I''d choose the first. However, I''d take the GOG stone over all of them! I''m willing to pay a premium for a hand-selected AGS0 princess.
And of the JA settings, I''d take the second. It''s less busy and should look fine with a princess. Neither are really *my* style (I prefer a solitaire), but the second is more solitaire-ish and the first is more 3-stone-ish.
AGS lab's highest cut grade is the AGS0, they are also the only lab to grade Princess for cut - further reading below. This cut grade is generally recognized to be awarded to diamonds of high cut quality according to AGS lab's standards.Date: 1/8/2009 2:50:13 PM

Thanks Lorelei,
Let''s assume the table from the last one is level. What''s your pick then? I''ll ask Josh today if that is the case. I could be buying a ring today.
We have are best friends coming into town this weekend. I think I would like to propose before they get here so that my GF can share that with her GF while they are here. Is that silly?
