Hello All - I''m new here.

I need your opinion. I want to buy this Sapphire ring and I''m wondering how much this kind of sapphire worth. Also is it possible to say by looking at the color where it came from?

This is the appraisal for this ring:
Hand assembled 14 karat yellow gold Art Deco style Sapphire and Diamond fashion ring. This larger style ring has a center oval shaped natural Blue Sapphire that is flanked by a perimeter of sixteen full set round diamonds. There is a perimeter scalloped border with hand cobalt blue enamel inlay. The ring has very good workmanship.

The central Sapphire measures 14.21 mm long by 12.15 mm wide by a depth measured at 5.73 mm. By calculations this gemstone is approximated to weigh 7.96 carats. There is very good internal clarity to the gem. It has some abraded crown facet junctions. There is noticeable color zoning when the diamond is observed from the pavilion, with color concentration in the center near the culet and the ends of the gem being a pastel hue. In the face up position there is even color distribution. The gem has blue-violet and teal hues observed with the dichroscope that are perpendicular to the table surface. According to Gem World International Gem Guide this gem is in the upper 50th percentile of the grade 4 quality. The Sapphire is a moderate purplish blue hue with 70 percent saturation and a modifying black mask of 20 percent. The pleochroism colors are violet blue and teal.

The ring weights 10.4 grams and is in good condition. It is from the period of circa the late 1940''s

Thanks

OH WOW that is a stunning setting!

Hi there and welcome. What a gorgeous, gorgeous ring!

If you want a 100% accurate and usable-for-insurance-purposes appraisal, you really should take it to be formally appraised by a gemologist. And for such a substantial piece in a vintage setting, I definitely would. None of us can tell you for certain what it''s worth or where it''s from: a gemologist looking at it in person can help you with the value. As for the source, that may be forever a mystery - the character of the color zoning or other inclusions may help.

Now I''m going to go look at the picture of that ring again. Yow!

Who is the seller? What is the return policy. I''d take it to an independant appraiser and go from there. It''s a lovely ring, but no way for us to give a value from the pics provided. HTH, and good luck!!

What a beautiful ring and ditto what Kaleigh said.

I like the amount of detail in the description. What is lacking is seeing the real thing: the workmanship, quality and condition of the ring and side melee diamonds, etc. All these will help with assessing a value to the ring. There is no way to guess where the sapphire is from based on the colour. I do not feel qualified to even hazard a guess on the price of this ring based on a picture.

Thanks guys,

I just wanted your opinion on Sapphire that size and quality description.

I'm getting it on Wednesday and I will take it to my jeweler right away.

so, shall we book you in for ''hand shots'' on Wednesday then?
